Humm. I was having high hopes for the WR turbo, but now, after reading dyno flash's thred, I may consider the Greddy T67 Kit...

I saw Al make 423 WHP on the greddy kit at 18 PSI.....

i think ill just wait and see how the evo IX turbo will perform. its looks like it can be the best stock turbo to come on an evo to date. maybe next to the 6.5 TME, but i sure someone will compare the to against each other

What do you consider minimal mods? The vid says "stock EVO with WR turbo" but it has an AEM EMS..... what other "minimal" mods besides the $2000 fully programable ECU does it have? Also, what fuel was that on? Not trying to be a dick here, and not saying the WR will not make the claimed HP numbers..... just wondering what that car has.

Thanks,

Keith

Come to find out the turbo didn't perform like we had expected. The turbo seemed to spool quick, not much slower than stock but didn't hold boost like we had thought. It would still tapper down to 20psi at redline.

Anyhow here are the graphs, both runs were done on Racegas boost was set to spike 27-28psi and both would taper to 20psi at redline.

Run# 24 is the STOCK 03evo turbo

Run# 13 is the WR turbo.

Mod: 880cc injectors, AEM EMS, Intake pipe w/o maf, HKS 272cams, 3" turbo back exhaust, ceramic coated Ebay header, upper and lower intercooler piping.

Still on stock intake, intercooler, head un-ported, block

ouch ......

So were there any other mods added besides the turbo between the two dyno runs?

After another thread involving hundreds of posts and absolutely no positive conclusive data.....

i think we can all safely say that the WR is not what we all thought it was going to be.

Sucks cause I was excited...

now can we all take an oath to stop posting about this piece of crap unless someone has a dyno sheet showing actual gains with the turbo? cause i and i'm sure many other people are tired of reading all of this crap that has basically no conclusion.....except that this turbo is a dissapointment

Well, first off, everyone kept b*tching about how there were no dynosheets. Now that they're finally rolling in, you're b*tching about how they're not conclusive. WTF? Grow some damn patience people! Geez.. this turbo is about 3 weeks old.

Each inconclusive data point can eventually lead you to a conclusion.

The theory behind the upgrade is sound, I think you guys really need to give it some time and not take initial results too seriously, we're not 100% sure where this turbo will or won't shine yet.. I have a friend who has a pretty quick evo who will be putting the turbo on his car when he gets it, I know for certain if anyone is going to make more power with it over a stock turbo, he can. BUT I do think that this turbo might actually shine with much higher boost than what people have tested so far. Some of the numbers just don't seem right for the mods on their cars too.

But I will reserve judgement until I hear more. FP has an amazing reputation, and they had quite a few people testing this turbo prior to even talking about its availability publicly who have had good results.

I can not believe that the MODERATORS of this site would be so short sited as to rip a product that is 3 weeks old. FP has had an unbelieveable reputation in the DSM community for 10 years and continue to make cutting edge products. The premature reactions are very dissapointing.
