i'm in the process of doing this now. yes i run my stock turbo out of it's efficiency range but who cares. if it blows up, i'll slap on a 25G anyway. also alot of people fail to realize that the stock (9.8) turbo is good for 500HP...

Also I ran out of dyno time and was using the same ignition timing map as I used on pump gas daily driving. By upping the boost a couple more psi and playing with timing I would have been at or near 440 wheel HP.... perhaps beyond it.

you could have spiked to 32PSI & tapered it to 23 & made over 500WHP if you were using MoTec...

Not even close.

Curt Brown ran a very high 10 on the stock turbo with the motor tuned to within an inch of it's life. He holds the stock turbo record for ET and mph, but as far as I know he never dynoed the car with it sad to say.

because usually when you find something works... you just don't care about talkin' **** anymore. when you see a big ****fest going on in the internet forums... adn you know what's going on... why would you waste your time getting shot down by peopl that don't know ****... why would you wanna put in any effort, yer already set... and they have said stuff... just no one listens.

I would think AL would of loved this upgrade to work since everyone would need new reflashed ecu's and new road tunes = more business....

Hopefully other tuners will post their results also.

But for me so far its dissappointing,Ill stick with my plans on an AMS 3076 KIT with ALKY tuned by DYNOFLASH.

But thats just me.

I have a WR, and I'm sorry but it builds boost better and more quickly than the stocker. Also, I don't know about Essex but the Evo400 turbo is about 1900...pounds. You're talking over 3000 USD there. Also, this guy had 264 cams. Perhaps the Rabbit runs better with 272s and cam gears? I mean, who knows. I admit I could be wrong, but it's way too early to judge this turbo. Also, when Shiv tuned the 2 WRs (including mine) he said the dyno doesn't show everything about this turbo.

What it comes down to is a bunch of internet hacks badmouthing a turbo they know not much about (this is not directed at any tuner). John Mueller and Tym Switzer have forgotten more about turbochargers than 90% of you will ever know. And both of those guys aren't in the business of trumpeting products that suck. Maybe that will sink into the heads of some of you. Jimmeny freakin' Cricket....
