Buschur Racing 50 trim turbo kit......
Well fellas it was a damn tough day on the dyno. I tried just about everything I could to make more power with this particular car and this new turbo. The turbo itself is proven and has done some unbelievable things through the years. I am not going to disclose the turbo that I used today as I don't want any bad press for it. I am not convinced it is the turbo.
This particular car is a fully BR built EVO. 2.3, Stage 3 head, Revolvers, AEM etc. It made 360 whp/413 ft lbs of torque last time it was here, July, on the 20g-9-5.
Today I managed 354/315 ft lbs. I didn't expect high torque numbers as the laggier the turbo gets the lower the numbers are, generally.
So I spoke with Shaun about what we are going to do next. We decided to put the 20gLT/Green on the car and see what it does then.
As I am typing this though I am thinking it is perfect time to try the BB 50 trim kit that we are selling. I have no hard data on it yet and it may be the ticket. I think if it's O.K. with you Shaun, I will do that.
I guess I will try and build the kit using the 38mm Tial and keep the cost down. Maybe make it fit with the stock fan if possible too.
The car seems to be in perfect working order and has only been touched by us.
It is very baffling but I guess proves just how good the 20g-9-5 is/was.

hey dave, i think i can speak for shaun when i say, go ahead and do it
... lol, im sure he will be on here soon to give you the nudge to go ahead anyway... Its not like he is bringing that thing down here to NC anytime soon anyway

if you have the 50trim BB there, i would love to try it. i just want to make more power now! lol this is starting to get frustrating with the lower numbers, but like dave said, i guess it proves how good the 20g's really are!
well if the 20g fails to meet the previous best or close to the previous best of this car then we can safely say that there must be an issue with the car and the fault isn't with the turbo's tried.
The would be very unfortunate since dave would be starting from scratch to first diagnose then retest. I don't envy the task dave not at all. I'm starting to wonder if the head may be damaged, I remember previous posts with a stage 3 head and a small fracture which caused inexplicably low hp numbers.
Have you run any tests on this car dave like basic compression tests? I didn't find anything like this in your previous entries.

Pipe dream but I would also like to see the BB 50Trim on a Stock bottom end Evo (VIII or IX) and see what it does on pump gas and a flash.
this is all crazy to me. wow! glad to know i have the 20g-9-5 in right now. but still looking to upgrade to something bigger. thanks to David for all the research and time he is putting into the EVO community!
i wonder if this kit with the BG S256, external gate works worth crap? it's about $1K more than dave was trying to hit with that turbo though and an external gate doesn't add that much. i think it works with the stock fan though?
