Don't get me wrong, this project is both interesting and educational, but I am not exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish. You could have just tube framed a DSM and made it RWD or just bought a mustang or chevy and not completely torn apart a 20k-30k $ sports car.

1000+

I was thinking the same thing you want to be outside the box put a 454 or LS1 with a 47R you will not be shooting for 7's you will be hitting 6's with no problem thats after you master driveing it

Because LS1s suck. There is a reason he bought a 4 cylinder in the first place.Don't you think if he wanted a lsx motor he would of bought a car that had one in it? Anyone can make a V8 fast it takes a little more with a 4 banger.

Yeah, hey, while we're at it, let's never ever try anything different or interesting again. Let's just throw 454s and LS1s in everything. Forget your projects, LS1 swaps for everyone!

Who cares about being interesting and different. This is about racing and speed. Whichever motor that allows the person to be the fastest is the winner and king. She/he might as well put a quad turbo W16 in there and go for 10,000hp, because this car is not an Evo anymore anyway. W16 hmmm that's actually pretty interesting and different.

Who cares about a V8... Everyone does it and its old. The car was a 4cyl and will remain a 4cyl.

Drop it guys. Whether the car is an Evo or not is your own opinions... So you are to tell us and everyone else that Brent Rau's car isnt a 2g?

What will the car look like... What body will the car have? Exactly.

If he didnt care about being interesting and different, he would have just bought a fiberglass shell, made a tube chassis and run a V8. Instead he bought a 30k dollar Evo 8 and turned it into something he likes.

don't worry about the haters, just keep doing what you like. it's your time and money. most of these haters don't even have the skills to pull off a project like this.

Weight advantage? Yeah, whatever. The difference in weight will easily be compensated by the massive amount of power that will be produced and the extreme weight reduction everywhere else. Higher displacement motors will always have the upper hand in terms of power production. Like what the cliche states. There is no replacement for displacement.

I'm not really trying to knock or hate on this amazing project as a whole. I think this project is awesome. The only problem I have is the logic that this is still an Evo, but it's not. Sorry for coming across as d!ck. Don't get me wrong. I find this project really interesting and I'm really looking forward to it's completion.
