I was just curiose what happens if you let e85 sit unused for a few month? will it deteriorate to no use point or nothing bad really happens?

I know that when fuel sits, it does go bad. That is why there is fuel stabilizer added to the fuel in things like generators that sit over time. I'm not sure how long it would take E85 to go bad, as it it mostly alcohol anyway. You would know if it isn't working when the time comes that you do use it again. You would need to run a log and see if you are getting any knock and see how the car runs.

I don't think it will be bad if left for a couple months, it's usually like 8-12 months that you have to worry about.

I bet you nothing bad really happens. Granted my Evo never sits more than 2-3 weeks (only when it's really cold)

I had to ground mine due to not a stealth driving record

So so far no concrete info if it needs to be drained or used up and refiled?

I have vodka that sits in my fridge forever, nothing happens to it
You'll be fine, man. Just start her up every once in a while, let her idle till it gets up to operating temp, and everything will be a ok!

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?! get that Vodka drunk! if not send it to me and i will! lol

seriously thought there are few problems with E85. lots of people are running the stuff and making good BHP. just make sure the tuner you use knows what they are doing as you will need a fair bit more E85 than you do normal fuel.

also worth noting that there is a differance in E85 form batch to batch, so best make the tune nice and safe.

Chris.

This alcohol business is all kinda new. But I know alcohol absorbs water. And it is in a system that is a lot less air tight than the braking system. You could get some rust.
