9sec9/OKIX's EVO, ROUND TWO!
Thanks Aaron. Tony's home sick and can't make it up, so I guess I'll be hauling it home and wait for him to get well. If the little smurf doesn't start looking up in a week or so, I'll be hiring a new driver.
Kudos for a great result (as usual).
PS - for those who may not be familar with the so called "FP Red" - it has been out for a long time on the Subaru side and has been a great street turbo for the Subaru. I think before the Subaru ones came out the DSM ones were out. I am not sure what they changed on the Evo one but 565 whp on a dyno jet is very impressive for that unit. Killer. FP is certainly been comming out with some great turbos lately.
I agree that for many it may be confusing with the so called "green" - which was once the "white rabbit" now becomming the "white" and also at the same time the "red" comming out for Evos.
These are good times for Evo owners with so many great streetable turbo choices. I am also looking forward to see how the new RED compares to a WHITE on a Stage IV car on pump gas.
I'm still not so sure we'll be running in the Stock Appearing Class. I just want to run for the fun of it. The car is what it is without winning anything. Innovations, power and the fun we've had doing it are nearly enough for me. Now Tony, that's another story. He likes to win, I'd rather just have fun with no pressure. Winning isn't everything at this point, at least to me.
The most fun for me these days is test and tune nights - when I can make it. I enjoy just to run the car and try to make it run well and enjoy the satisfaction to feel it. That is enough for me and gives me more pleasure than anything else.

The Green has never been the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit used a stock turbine wheel and the Green compressor wheel, while the Green has a proprietary larger FP turbine wheel and the larger 5 bladed FP compressor wheel. The Green also has not "become" the White -- the Green has stayed the same, while the new WhiteHTA has a 47 lb/minute HTA compressor wheel, coupled with the stock IX turbine wheel.
Al's been away from stock appearing turbos for so long he just can't remember
Just for the sake of accuracy, the Evo Red is NOT similar to the Subaru Red, except in color designation. They are completely different turbos and spin in reverse one from the other. The Subaru version is rated at 65 lbs/minute; the Evo version at 56 or 60 lbs/minute, depending on who you ask.

With all these new turbos there is a lot of excitement in the stock appearing turbo world for sure.

^^I know huh, haha i didn't know that FP was going to actually do the red for evos. So anyone know if you can trade in your green + cash for the red? No install kits are required to swap the red into an 8 right?

Scott, if we corrected for weather conditions (heat/humidity/baro) the pull would have been close to 30 whp more. Temps coming out of the fan were 122. The temps at beginning of the pull in the upper IC were 107 and only rose to 111. Since we actually made one pull on the dyno that was 540, you could easily see that it would add 25-27 whp if corrected. 565 divided by my own constant of 9 at the wheels would indicate a flow of up to 63, but that's just my OKIE way of seeing where we're at in relation to other pulls we've made.
I TOTALLY agree with that statement. What is kind of skimmed over here is the fact that I just installed that turbo YESTERDAY. We've had NO TIME to dial it in and make it all work together. We have a few things that we know we'll change and as we get better with it, we'll post up those results. We're just beginning on a new journey. Now, Scott, you can get some sleep.
