I'd like to interupt the normal schedule here and say that I personally feel that there is one driver for this car 9sec9 and that's Tony. End of story. When you were here I wanted to get the car to the track and wanted you to fly Tony in but would have been happy to see Trent behind the wheel. That was for testing. I've watched Tony drive, I think he's a great driver and see no reason to put someone else behind the wheel. Tony, you need to get on an airplane and fly in for some testing/racing, you could even bring your girlfriend

Thanks for the compliments on the father duties Tom, that means a lot to me, you are a great father too and I really respect your goals with the car and spending time with Tony, so stick to them.

2.4EVO8, I swear like a sailor all the time actually. haha I have a terrible foul mouth. I hope that's one trait my kids don't get from me.

Thanks Jeff. The smurf and his smurfette are looking forward to meeting everyone at the shootout. I offered to fly them up and they wouldn't have to take the long drive, but smurfette said "I don't mind riding in the truck". Well, Ok, but that's a 1030 miles of hard driving and I don't stop for anything but fuel. You need to go to the hospital get a catheter and bag. Now let's see if they agree with you.

LOL I thought my Dad was the only hard a$$ when it came to road trips! We would leave with 3 milk jugs in the car (all boys). One full of water for drinking and two empty! Every gas stop it was someones job to empty the milk jugs! My brother and I used to fight about it, "it's your turn, no it's your turn"

Great work everyone, I am completely impressed by all the advancements you have made and doing it as a father/son project and keeping that goal first. Maybe if more parents got involved in there kids lives there would be more respectable kids, like Tony, running around with a good set of values and character.

Currently, due to experience and sheer number of passes in different cars, I'd give Roly the edge for sure.
Without a question. If someone is good, they should be recognized for it. Roly is Pure Gold when it comes to driving. I guess you could call him a Roly-ex, made out of 24kt Gold. Ok, dumb, I know, but it's the point I was making....I'll quit now.

The father/son is what really makes it for us. We went to a wedding last night and talked about it at the reception table with some friends. I remember in the early 70's when my brothers and I did it together. My brothers are 3 years older and they're twins. Dan most of the time owned the car and drove it. Ron would do the tuning and was the 'guru' of what changes should be made. I was the flunky. I just played little brother, occassionaly bought parts with money I didn't have. I had ideas then, but the decisions were mostly made by Dan and Ron. As brothers and wives, we sure had a ton of fun for several years. Our little 70 cuda with a Dport W2 motor, 14:1 pistons ran CONSISTENT 9.40's. I'll have to find some old pics, not sure if there was video anywhere. I know it would have to be on super 8 or something if there is. Now that I think about it, there couldn't be any tape, we didn't have the money for film. If we DID have film money, it would have been spent on race gas or something.

That is some good stuff. The video was impressive, maybe next time it will be just a little bit cooler here in OK. It was definitely one of the hotter nights we have had in a while.

You know Tony isn't going anywhere Tom.

WRONG.

They run regular slicks like everybody else, they are just better drivers.

Don't say "WRONG" like it's some big deal. I asked a question as you can see. It was not a statement. What cars do they use the motorcycle slicks on? Kinda hard to cut a 1.37 60' on regular slicks with that sort of power regardless of driver skill.

Hard for us, not hard for them, Roly cuts those sort of 60's 1.3-1.5 range all day long in anything he drives.

It is a big deal because lots of people have been talking ish about what they have been doing in PR and attributing it to the tracks or the tires, neither is the case.

They use motorcycle slicks on motorcycles Warrtalon, I figured you would be able to grasp that.

Looked like a statement within a question to me.

No, he usually only does the 1.3s with the motorcycle slicks. He only recently got a 1.3 with the Green. Hard for anyone even Roly.

People aren't talking "ish." They DO use motorcycle slicks and that usually is what gives the Hot Rod-level 60's. If he is now able to do it WITHOUT those, then he has improved.

Are you serious that you didn't know they were using motorcycle slicks on the Evos??? Read this - I thought everyone knew:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...orcycle+slicks

It's not a knock on them, but they are making a huge difference in 60's. If the Green running 10.0s is not using these tires, then ok.

It's me thinking they use motorcycle slicks, which they have done, but not knowing for sure if they were used on the most recent runs, so I ASKED to make sure. The answer is "no" if they didn't, not "WRONG."
