Buschur Racing doing a start to finish EVO8 build, need input.
the stock clutch is out of the question with wanting some decent go out of it.
great its almost settled then .stock ecu, stock frame, tarmac destroyer
altho i'd like to see it have turbo choices for short circuits/street or long circuits etc really loving the V band turbo and manifold items recently out that make turbo swapping childs play

But yeah the triple push was easier to slip and a bit less harsh engagement with lighter pedal feel than my twin HD. The triple was a good amount more noisy than the twin. But keep in mind I found the twin to be awesome and easy to drive. But the triple push was just a bit better.
Sorry for the OT. Looking forward to Buschur in 2009! Hoping for more testing threads which are always my favorite.
I bought the Magnum with the intention of doing TA, but due to costs it was out of the question. I make more money than your average EVO owner and still can't afford to do it so that tells me the majority of other owners out there most likely cannot afford it either. When you factor in tires, fuel, and travel cost alone, it can easily be a $4000 weekend. Now if you break or worse crash, that number can skyrocket. I probably don't even have to mention our current economic factors which only add to that situation for most. So although road racing is the ultimate rush I have done in the car, it just isn't realistic for alot of us in my opinion. The alternative for me has been Solo (autox) and Rallycross (dirt/ice). It is not nearly as hard on a car and one can often get through a whole season on a set or two of tires and brake pads. Wheel bearings are probably the only other real common maintenance item I have seen. Having a fun car on the street is important too, so a class that allows a good amount of mods including those to the engine and turbo would be ideal since you also arleady stated that you plan to build the motor but keep a full interior. This would put you in the SM Solo class. This is the most popular mod class at our local region events and seems to be growing each year.
The Solo rules can be found here http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo%2...lo_Rules_2.pdf. The Street Mod rules start on page 100 but build off some of the other class rules too. I remember you saying how much fun you had doing autox and these events are nationwide and even international for that matter with ghymkana. Rally would be cool too but not for a full interior car and the normal persons budget.
I definitely would like to see how a Buschur 2.3L would do with the BBK and E85 since you mentioned pump gas. I think this would be a great combination for the street and Solo too. If the engine ever expires in the Magnum, I would like to do the 2.3 with the planned BBK and Q16 for the XP class that I plan to compete in.

just borrow mellon's car and paint it white.. lol j/k
No, but really this is something to look forward to. What about once you get your cores and everything.. just keep it stock??
Stock block and internals
Stock ported IM and TB
Stock ECU
Your new suspension, and just go from there.. basically a true stock blocked Evo, rather than a "built" evo. To show what the 4g63 is capable of for a real budget build. Of course an up-graded turbo.. fuel and all that, but just keep the heart of it as it came from the factory.

Now THIS would be interesting.
I like this idea, with a budget cap... at least at the beginning. You could do a 10k cap, then maybe later raise the budget limit. Or you could just choose budget stages along the way. I also like the idea of a car designed for auto-x and HPDE type events... something you drive there and back again!
^^^that's kinda like Ted B.'s setup...I've always thought Buschur was more a fan of the single scroll T3 setups...I could be wrong though...I have been wrong before lol
He has already stated what he will use.... things he has tested in the past and what he knows will work no?
