Hard To Downshift. Please help.

Well here is my problem that i've gotten a few months ago. I can upshift in to all gears from 1-5, but when I upshift in to fifth and try to downshift back in to fourth its like the gear is not even there. I always have to either try and shift in to third and then back in to fourth or clutch and fight with the shifter whole bunch of times to try and get it in. The clutch I have in there is an EXEDY Twin HD, which i believe is adding to this problem, because it feels like its draggind, but i also had a quartermaster twin which i swapped out about 3 weeks ago and I still had that problem.

I called Shep before, and he told me that he doubts that its the tranny due to the fact that it is only on the downshift. He suggested to replace the underhood shifter bushings and to check out all the lines.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this kind of problem and might be able to help me out a little. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to rev match at all or just shift "normally"?. When you up shift the revs will match as the RPM's drop but on down shifts that just won't happen. What kind of fluid are you running in the trans?

First and foremost adjust your clutch so that it is disengaging properly.

One thing at a time guys. I agree it's probably the clutch adjustment but smoke777x should answer my questions first.

I have tried rev matching, and i always rev match when i downshift but it certainly does not help when i downshift in to fourth.

BTW I adjusted the clutch to a point whre there aren't anymore threads on the Master cylinder push rod. The pedal is all the way up but it still seems like it does not disengage properly. I dont think thats the reason tho, because when i had the quartermaster, it disengaged properly but it was still hard to downshift in to fourth. Basically I have two problems right now, 1-I have a hard time downshifting in to fourth, 2-My clutch wont fully disengage.

What kind of fluid are you running in the trans? Have you tried bleeding the clutch at the slave cylinder?

Im just running regular DOT 4 brake fluid, nothing special. I have tried bleeding but it didn't seem to help. I am going to have the shop install SS clutch lines today and the underhood bushings. hopefully that will help.
