if you can't purchase an fp red that is made for external gate from fp, just have the int wg welded shut and get a fabed piece for your ext wg and dump tube..

think 450 is possible for this setup with a good tune??
LOL!!! No he went 9.53 and his best mph was 145.03. We hold the mph record.
The Red only came off for other goals. But, Someday it may go back on. It really is a fun turbo.
Looks like you are on the right path. That combination of parts should make for a strong street car and a heck of alot of fun!

William254,

dude, what are your goals? Street, 1/4 Mile, track car or all of the above? I too have been thinking about this, but in the end... if you do not stroke your engine for a few years I say go with the red. It is relatively inexpensive and you can purchase a HTA35R TS set up in 3 years if you want.

I personally enjoy running at the track and driving my car on nice sunny weekends. The red/BBK appeal to me because I live in California, and as we all know we need to be as stealth as possible around here. On the other hand, the red does not appeal to me because I have seen someone in my area blow 3 of them at the track... not cool. But when I hit 60k miles, have to do all the routine maintenance, i will just stroke my engine if it last that long. Now, if I did a 2.2 or 2.3, HTA35R TS is the way to go.

I don't know, tough decision.... i will be following your thread

Oh just for reference sake, here is an evo in the bay area on the CBRD BBK I believe. I know, not a red but you get the point

480WHP/475WTQ (NO, IT IS NOT A RED)

okix, u and most-wanted both went really fast! thats what i want mainly is a fun street car. something strong thats makes decent power... im not wanting to run 9s but i will track it next season. both autox and drag mostly.

if u use fp's lines you should be fine and not oil it off the head...

my goals are 450 on e85(dynojet) and 11's thats all. im not gonna be stripping it out and putting a cage or anything like that just decently fast and fun on the streetss!!

thanks for the help! keep it coming.

The FP Red responds like a 16g with slightly more lag. I can get 15psi in 3rd by 3500rpm. Not to mention the new 80mm red sounds like a jet fighter the way it whistles even reving up not even in boost. Im still in the process of breaking my clutch in, but after thats done ill have numbers. im looking for the same goals as you basically minus the dynojet. I want 450 on cbrd's mustang dyno.... which I dont see being an issue unless I need to get a double pump setup. With e85 you'll want to get similar injectors as I got. MAP can hook you up with a good price.

edit: if you're looking for 450 on a dynojet and want fast spool and good pull uptop i would also inquire about the
BBK full from cbrd. that thing spools up fast as hell.

I have the invidia o2 and the internal gate works just fine.... fp doesn't just use a stock WG anymore, they have a heavy duty actuator now and adjustable rod. It should be no problem holding 30-35psi as long as you have a good bc.

ok get the red then. if you get it from extremepsi they have them in stock, no wait time. (I think) Id definitely get it ported though. And when I said it sounds like a jet fighter im not kidding. It makes the same whistle the GT30r's make. FP said the whistle comes from the anti surge housing inlet. When I was just coasting around parking lot at showdown in englishtown nj, people were turning around and looking at my car cause of the whistle.

You have to keep in mind and he should tell you those two evos are not street evos they are straight race cars gutted and booted for the track. So i mean no weight fast speeds etc. So dont get it to twisted there hommie. I dont plan on gutting my show evo. once i lay down 10.9 drag career is over. I just want to say i have a 10 sec car and leave it at that. Once that goal is complete its all about road courses and street fun. If your going to do it right man a 2.3 is in your future maybe not now but you can have everything in place for it.

none with the evo. i had a previous fwd 2g that did 12.8 @ 119. for the evo my goal is 11.5 on down. im still in the process of breaking in my exedy clutch give it another 200 miles and ill be comfortable with the break in time. I did something really stupid tho and forgot to put the nut on the rear trans/engine mount and the long bolt vibrated out the mount so i drove my evo 300 miles back/forth from NJ with no rear engine support!!!!! and the car felt like absolute **** on wheels .

The FP red makes an equivelent whistle as if you were running straight off the o2, (no downpipe/exhaust) it is THAT loud of a whistle.. it sounds like a beast. Also buy the FP oil filter housing kit, and be very careful not to overtorque the fitting on the housing or it will crack (mine did ) so my turbo install turned into me replacing that housing, then after I had seen all the **** I had to remove to do the housing I just went ahead and did the timing belt, and all the pulleys, waterpump, etc.

I should have it ready to get tuned here in 2-3 wks. I'll post my numbers on the dyno thread on the forum, but im not leaving the dyno until i see 450WHP on mustang dyno.

btw i would stick with the stock turbo manifold or you will lose some low end torque/power. Just get the manifold ported by bob from map, he did a hell of a job on mine.
