MAPerformance BS
i dunno man this is a hard one. all possibilities have huge holes in the stories. i have to say tho it looks more and more like scam as we all talk this through. i say we make a new thread and vote lol
yes MAP has a great reputation but you cant say for a fact that **** couldnt happen. i personally always had a great experience with slowboy racing and there was a guy on here who claims that when he ordered a set of pistons slowboy just changed the rings on a used set and shipped him them. i never followed up with that thread after that. but yes there could always be a mistake on someones part!!!!
The way the Op went about all this points at him being a scammer.
Blown clutch in May= Strike one
Getting your dad involved because you think a company will say "OMFG, the kids dad is now involved, we better pay!"
= Strike two
MAP stood their ground even when the dad got involved because they did NOTHING wrong. They wouldn't screw their business over something so petty. They knew something was up and did not want to get duped.
The fact that a USED clutch, missing parts were actually INSIDE means you put them in there. Had the packaged been damaged, YOU KNOW DAMN WELL HE WOULD HAVE POSTED IT!!!
So the package came unopened, you opened it and found those parts? = Strike three
My train of thought on this matter. It should all be very clear now.

There's a couple important questions that need to be answered:
1. Did MAP ship the clutch directly or was it drop shipped?
2. Is there NO way that MAP sent that incomplete clutch (used, sent for repair or whatever, and then missplaced) by mistake?
To the OP, could you show proof that you had an OEM clutch put in after you blew the first one?

Is it possible that a used/returned clutch that was kicking around the warehouse got accidentally put with the new exedy twins? Then as the order was filled and shipped out a 34# shipping sticker was put on it and since it wasn't over weight fedex didn't flag it when it was weighed. This seems the most likely possibility.
I find the scam theory very unlikely. There's an honest mistake somewhere. What good is taking a flywheel & a clip out of a clutch kit? Why does it look used?
BTW driving on a bad clutch since May is nothing. My clutch was bad for over a year. It just didn't get driven that much. It would only really slip under boost or 5th gear.
I too ordered my clutch from MAP. The clutch arrived fine. I must say that service was less than prompt. I spent nearly two weeks playing email tag to get them to ship my stuff to my credit card approved shipping address.

To number two: I re assure you the OP never thought to go the route of the opened/damaged package scam or else he would have came at us with that in his first post.
If it was a clutch for rebuild, the package would have been tampered with/opened already. Which he clearly does not state.

That's what I think happened, honest mistake somewhere +1.
I dunno I wanted to give the kid benefit of the doubt. But going silent after being so active in the thread coincidentally right when you show us some more evidence makes him look pretty bad.
Trust me Fedex does do a lot of ****. And yes alot of the workers play with cars too and it could be possible, there are a lot of Exedy twins out there. Now having said that, with the blown clutch etc he might have just let his car sit and drove another car while he waited for the new parts to arrive.
The sad thing is in the pic it doesn't look like the kid is poor, so to try and ruin a good company's rep to score some free **** is messed up man.

I ordered a clutch from MAP and when i took it to the shop to have it installed they opened the box and checked to make sure all parts were there and they were not. A bunch of bolts were missing to bolt the TOB to the clutch and the clutch cover bolts too. I called them up and they sent them right away overnight but it still held back the install. I even called Quarter master to ask if the kit comes with these bolts and they said they should have been in the box but they were not. Now im not downing MAP at all. they took care of the problem right away. and after the clutch started slipping after 3K of daily driving with only maybe 8-10 launches they gave me the best price on a exedy triple i have ever seen. so they are a great company and ill order again from them. but the the point of this is that there were parts missing from a clutch kit that should have been put together by the factory. so it is possible that parts can go missing. as for comparing a flywheel( major part of a kit) to a bag of bolts( not so big. easy to over look) I dont know. .

Also, it sounds like he is a younger kid because he involved his dad with this so.....when you were younger and you received a package like this that probably his dad bought for him he just grabbed it and ran to install if quick which in turn means he didn't care to look in it when he received it.
I dunno if that makes sense to anyone but I personally don't know what to think about this...if he is a scammer then he needs banned for life ....I hate scammers they think they get the right to get things cheaper as if they are special or something.
