Thanx!
I know alot of people would say I could have had a built motor and head for the same price. In reality, I now have a OEM IX Mivec long block with a brand new OEM IX turbo, OEM MR clutch, plus all the other lil extras, all with 0 miles direct from
Mitsubishi with a 12/12 warranty.
Made a lil money off the old parts, and now I know that I have a fresh strong motor to build from.
So yea maybe I spent a lil extra but i dont regret it now. Maybe 2 days ago when it wasnt running, but not today

I kind of understand why he did it. He already wanted to swap the car over to mivec, so you don't want to bite off more than you can chew at one time. I probably would have wanted to start off with all factory **** too if I was doing a swap that large.
should have just bought a high mileage evo 9 then.. sorry to me which is not eveyones same of view, this was a big waste of $$$
7k got me this minus the turbo
Build 2.1L

ANYWHO, SORRY to jack thread.. i hope ur happy with ur decision and that all that matters

Exactly! Several contributing factors came into play when i decided to just order the stock Mivec longblock. Not to mention the fact that I had a bad head and needed a good core.

Don't get me wrong, this ***** is far from finished, but at least I know my car now. I know that everything on the motor that I would have used off my old motor during a potential rebuild...those items are now brand new with so far 60 miles on them.

Future plans:
Next month:
ETS Front Mount
Beatrush Undertray
Buschur LICP
ARC Heatsheild
Buschur Ignition Cover
Catco 3 inch high flow
Manual Boost control
Evo IX steering wheel
23psi Tune at MZM
This fall:
Buschur Stage 3 Head work
Kelford 272/272
FP Black
750-850cc
AEM Guages
28 psi Tune at MZM
And that means I need these parts so yea.....hit me up.

might just be me but i think you would probably want to do at least 1000cc on a fp black setup
Well I wouldnt consider this a waste but yah I definitely would have gone a different route.
IMO, a built motor would be better if you plan on modding. A good conservative tune will give you a motor just as reliable as factory, especially since you're wanting an FP Black.. The amount of torque and power youll be making from that kit will make your stock block a ticking time bomb unless you just keep the boost down and tune conservatively.
Btw all the hype over the mivec I feel is also misguided. It's just so much easier and cheaper to make power on a built evo8 head.. Plus you have to run over priced iridium plugs in it. Id just assume getting a fully built and ported head for like $2,500, throw in a $500 set of cams, and spend $3,500 on a built 2.0L.
But, as long as your happy. If I were you Id make the most out of the parts you have and just do some boltons. Evo9 turbo is easily capable of low 11s with boltons. Should make for a pretty fun car!
