I actually rebuttle this combo actually Our rods are designed to work with the factory crank w/ the journal undercut. We use OEM cranks in both of our race cars making over 1000whp. You can use our rods if the bearing is chamfered, because we use the wider 6-bolt bearing with our rods for more surface area to distribute the power.

We can assemble a shortblock for ya and ship it over. Not a problem, shipping is usually pretty cheap and plus you won't have to pay tax in state .

Check out our shortblocks, machined and assembled IN HOUSE!

I have a related question..... back in the DSM days forged piston motors nearly always had cold start piston slap .... this made quite a bit of racket. With modern day tolerances and new blends of materials do forged motors still clack-a-lack when started?

Depends on the builders tolerances and machining. Neither one of our race cars have cold start slap and make over 1000whp.

what kind of 2.4 block would be considered for autox, DD, and track days?

Would you builders feel safer with having oil squirters machined in, or would a properly forged piston support 20-30 minute sessions?

shuttlegoose, the main thing you need to consider for 20-30 minute track sessions is a good oil cooler and good quality oil in the engine. More frequent oil changes too of course. The oil squirters are not going to be nearly as important as those things.

I'd also suggest our long rod 2.4 if you plan to use the car for road racing.

is there anything that should be done to the head?

from what i gather im looking around $2000 for the parts (internals, gaskets, studs) then just install then just r&r.... re using all acc. and oil pan from the 4g63...

w/ the current fp red setup i will probably max out around 5-550 awhp on e85 from what im told

wish will be ok for a little bit to make sure the 2.4's drivability is all good and then probably go to a 37r or something

thanks for that response, it makes perfect sense. I would much rather change the oil more often.
