Will you be mounting the Evo application using in-house kits?

yes- all of our testing/fitment is done in house-

for the first one we may be converting a current manifold setup to test-

I'd love to see those results when they're in.

Bit of a strange statement saying why would you get anything under a 7670 considering the number of greens and bbk's that have sold over the years. These two turbos would be equivalent to 6758. That would be a hell of a lot of fun on the road. I'm looking at the 7163 for a bit more up top so that I can use it on the road and at the track.

If you do drag then obviously the larger turbo would be beneficial, but I find drag a little like premature ejaculation . 10 secs and your done.
I prefer 20+ minute sessions where you are hitting corners at the absolute limit of grip. That's excitement.

People go with Green's and BBK's because they are cheap, or at least they were at one time. The gap is closing between the cost of a stock frame upgrade and a full turbo kit, but there's still some gap, so its hard to justify spending big $$ on a turbo kit that produces the same power as a Green or BBK.

The 7163 apparently was using the .64 a/r housing which should make it come on nice and early.

At the moment, I don't even see any .64 a/r housing listed as an option for the 7163, looking at the Full-Race web page for the turbo.
if you've seen the other dynos and experienced the turbos in the EFR range, you'd realize that these turbine housings all spool very close to each other. That test was the pre-production 7163 anyway, and they've tweaked the design for the production one.

Couldn't agree more mrfred. With how close the prices are the main benefit of the stock frame turbos now is the stealth appearance.

until you realize that the BB CHRA with a Titanium turbine wheel that is incredible efficient at low pressure ratios will never be offered in a stock appearing setup.

Unless CBRD want's to put an 8374 EFR in a stock housing lol.

Incredibly efficient, eh? I do love love the TiAl turbine wheel on the EFRs, but as I wrote above, I couldn't justify the cost of the 7163 compared to my BBK-3B. BBK-3B, manifold, DP, LICP, and intake cost about $3800 while the 7163 would have cost me around $4800. Best as I can tell, they will have nearly identical powerbands. Perhaps I underestimate how much better the transient response could be for a TS 7163, but I can say for sure that the BBK-3B is a lot of fun.

bro, over a measly 1000$ you scrapped your entire EFR7163 plan? i was reading your thread, do you also run the cheapest spark plugs and the cheapest motor oil too

Cost, well I guess it is a little cheaper.
I could have gone either way but I chose to go with the 3b.

Got the wrong person on plugs and motor oil.

It would have been much more than $1000 for me because I already had the 3B system together. I had been waiting 6 months for the 7163 with no sign of a release and couldn't wait any longer. Heck, Geoff still hasn't gotten around to releasing the bottom mount 7163 manifold that I would have wanted to use. It would have been a $2000 investment to swap to the 7163 with the only tangible gain being an increase in transient response. The 3B is already pretty impressive in this area, so I couldn't see the point of going through all the hassle. At this point, I'm holding out for a revised 7670 with a mixed flow turbine and quick spool valve.

Mrfred isn't someone you want to second guess.

As much as I love the EFR series turbos and all of the incremental improvements they bring, they're still just incremental improvements over traditional turbo technology.

However, if Geoff ever finds time to release the low-mount 7163 header and EFR releases the QSV turbos, I'm going to have a hard time resisting.

I could swear he said he was just finishing up on his own car when I chatted with him a few months ago. Still not on the website, but that's not uncommon for Full-Race.

ok, I looked back at my email and now I'm confused. That's the same picture that Geoff sent me back in November when he was talking about his personal Evo. I guess he made one for his car and your buddy's?

BTW, since your buddy's Evo has apparently been assembled since October-ish, is there a dyno sheet?
