No on the reverse manual. No on the trans brake, it would destroy the trans instantly and the rest of the car.

Update on the breakage. Got the trans apart and it's worse than we thought. The planetary exploded. We aren't sure what went first there is a LOT of damage, pictures are on our Facebook page of the exploded parts.

I have an idea what happened but I am not expert. I don't believe these parts could fail this quickly, so I'm hoping the simplest solution is the one that will work. Other wise it's going to be costly to fix.

Vinny, my trans guy wants me to put the trans back in and turn the power way down to just drive it. I'm thinking I may do that and build a stock turbo kit to fit with it. When we tore the trans down we did get some good news too. The clutches/steels/hub/piston etc., etc., that we built before even getting started on this all worked out perfect. NO signs of any slippage at all so we are very happy with that.

As for the time frame question, I don't know at this point. I'd like to make all new parts for what we just broke, not going to be cheap, easy or fast.

It would be interesting to figure out the alloy used and heat treatment on those parts that broke. Looks like a lot of the pieces might not be able to be beefed up due to interfacing with other parts/space constraints in the case?

That is what we are going to do first actually, probably next Thursday. There are other options like straight cut gears too. I do not want to give up on this!

DB,

I was wondering if there was any lag between shifts like some automatics feel or did it felt like a manual transmission tha once you move the stick into gear and release the clutch its on gear?

No lag at all, it is instant. That part of it is attributed to Andrew, he did the wiring that I currently have in the car that actually controls the shift. It's supplied in a top secret sealed box called the "Magic box"!

i know this sounds counter productive, but would setting the clutch packs to have some slip be easier on the planeterys, assuming the planetarys can't be improved, without using unobtanium materials? Great right up any way. Hope to see this go further without to many more headaches

We can improve the planetarys I'm sure, what it will cost or the time it's going to take is another story. Going to look into it this week.

great build can't wait to see it make a pass.
I have owed 6 dsm's and the automatic dsm was by far the scariest, non stop boost till you let up
