New times with BR clutchless 4 speed
Depends on the converter.
In the Eclipse/Talon auto setups a stock converter wont lose too much over a manual. Even a restall if not WAY crazy doesnt drop more than 5-6mph. Jeff dropped 8 when we went to the loose converter but has gained a fair amount back as we tighten it back up. The thing is one less shift and never dropping out of boost does a lot to make up for the other losses.

The first pass I made in the car was a 9.94 at 140 mph, that was at only 30 psi of boost. My best pass ever in the car previously was a 10.2 at 144 at about the same boost last year. (This is with me driving and I stink) That seems to be about 4 mph with a great improvement in ET.
At 43 psi of boost the best pass ever in the car has been 9.04 at 159.64. That ET hasn't been matched or beaten since 2008 but we've run quite a few other 158-159 mph runs since then. The best MPH so far is 146.73 and produced that 9.31. I'm going to guess looking at the logs and time slips the car at 43 psi is going to run at best, 152 mph BUT I think that will be enough to finally get a 8.9 out of the car. So to answer your question, I'm guessing a 7 mph loss from our best ever.
As soon as the season is over and I don't intend to call it over until we get an 8 out of the car or it snows, the plan is to take the car home take the engine wiring harness out of it again and start that project over. While I'm in there I have to wire the speedo back in and I'm going to put an RPM sensor on the driveshaft so I can actually measure converter slippage. This will give us a lot of data to get the converter dialed in further. We could gain some more MPH by getting the converter just as loose as we need it or even going back to a lock up at some point.

Thanks for the info guys. As much as I love MPH, I'd trade it for ET anyday.
Look forward to more info on the project!

Edit: Dave, is the RS still in the street trim it has been for years? What does it weight appx? 28xx?
The RS is still in street trim as it has been, yes. I have eliminated as much as I can now without destroying it or cutting it up. The door beams are in, carpet, headliner, factory EVO9 seats, rear EVO9 seats, four speakers, amp for my iphone, full factory dash, our harness bar and harnesses on both sides. I took the air bags out over the winter and thought I'd never do that. Right now it is heavy, I think the other thread has the weight of the car in it, the original trans thread. I'm guessing with me or Kevin in the car it's now right at 3,000 pounds, unfortunately, this trans set up is HEAVY.
Agreed, I LOVE the big MPH the car produced before but will trade an 8.90 pass for that MPH all day long!

Wish I could get it down without removing the power ammenities, but I think that its not going to happen and I am afraid of ruining this car. A similar feeling you had after you guys sold the drag car and you started the RS.
Yeah, that's understandable and I don't want my car ruined either. It's to the point now I can't go much lighter without cutting something or taking away from what I consider a street car. My car is unfortunately getting beat up from all the work that is constantly done on it. It needs painted at this point. I'm on the fence about buying a 200 mile '04 RS a friend of mine has to transfer everything from my car to that one.........I figure soon all this experimenting on the car will be over with and the reliability will be high enough the work can actually come to a nearly complete stop.
The car is ready. Just have to wipe it down and set the air pressures. Going to load it in the trailer tomorrow and be ready for the weekend.
Dave and I took it for a 5 mile drive, I keep forgetting to get video! It's freaking fast, that's all I can say. The trans makes me look like a pro, bring it up on the converter, smash it to the floor and bump the shifter. No miss shifts, no jerky, no bogging, no grinding just smooth controllable speed, it's a wonderful thing.

Hey Mr. Buschur, not sure if you saw on the shop FB page but if you'd like some extra track time columbus racing is having a track day

Dave, how much weight an 8 second certified cage would add to the car?
I think 8 seconds require a better cage than our typical 6 point for the 10 sec guys. The 9.99 or faster requires the net, and some other stuff i think. Maybe the 8 sec up to 8.50 is similar?
Are these cages heavy?

My car is 3320 with me in it, and I only weigh 140.
