There is more to being legal to running 8.50's than just the cage, I understand what you are asking. The cage would need to be 1-5/8 and using CM makes sense. You'd have to then calculate the length of all tubing used and multiply it times the weight, I'd guess that 140 lb guess isn't too far off. Here is the issue, if you are going to build a car to that level of safety to pass tech, then there is more involved, parachute, drive shaft loop, scatter shield, engine diaper, shut off safety switch, window net, harnesses etc., etc. Now the weight just went up even further, the car got even harder to get into, work on and impossible to haul passengers around in or drive on the street safely. Not for me or this car.
