Fingers crossed you get a chance to run.

Awesome you have people willing to try out the transmissions so early in the game, great testing oppurtunities.

Keep it up man!

This project sucks *****, just for reference.

Matt got everything in time but the trans did not work. We overnighted some replacement parts and still no luck. No idea what the hell could be wrong. Myself and Dave are going to drive down to North Carolina week after next and see if we can figure it out.

As of now this entire project is on hold. Reality is I'm $30,000+ from it being finished and I'm not investing that much more money into this during the winter. I have a deposit from one guy on his trans that is built at our shop already and I'm going to refund that this week.

I'm hoping to try to run my car again this coming Saturday and see what happens. IF we have great success I may move forward. If not then I may just abort this. 1 year this month is what I have invested and tens of thousands of dollars. Mine works, needs more track time and not being able to duplicate another working unit has me disgusted.

I'll update as time goes but for now this projected has been halted as far as sales of units go.

Sorry to hear. I have really been impressed by your tenacity and apparent success up to this point. Hoping you'll see it through.

I agree.

This thread alone has me wanting to rebuild my wrecked IX back to a track car rather than parting it out. I just sent an email a couple days ago to get on the list. I understand putting the orders on hold so I'm cool. I really hope this works out though.

Great job so far David

Yes, the track is open at 10 am tomorrow. The car is loaded up, I ran it on the street today to check everything. I've also got my street tires loaded up incase I decide to drive it home! It's going to be a high of 45 degrees tomorrow, the chances of getting the car to hook up I'd say are pretty slim but we are going to give it a try.

I'm ready to move onto winter at this point but hate to give up. I have a ton of plans for the car over the winter and am ready to get started. New wiring harness again, maybe going to an AEM S2 box, moving the battery and fuse box inside like Chris Young did on his car etc. Going to lose some more weight too, this trans is heavy so I need to find some more to get out of it.

The market for this is probably small and the economic means of the typical evo owner is dropping as the cars age, so this was probably never a good business proposition for the long haul, but it was exciting to follow nonetheless. Hope it does great at the track after all your hard work.

We headed out today, temps in the upper 30's. Track was cold, no sun. I drove the car yesterday and noticed a lot of driveline noise that wasn't there before we had the flexplate mishap. I ignored it.

Kevin drove the car around the pits, got on it a few times to get it warm and headed to the starting line. Warmed the tires up and then staged. The car made it out about 100 feet and broke.

We took a look at the trans case split. I'm assuming it was damaged from the flexplate failure before but have no real way of knowing. We haven't taken it apart yet and it's going to be awhile before we get around to it.

At this point, I am finished. I want to sell the entire project as a turn key project for some other shop to finish. We have the project so it's a bolt in, electronics are done, mounts are done, converters, flexplates etc. I will sell one entire kit ready to run along with all the spare parts, transmissions, dimensions, drawings, shifter mounts, bolts, flexplates, torque converters, secrets to get more etc., to one shop/person who wants to continue with it.

The reality for me is we need to move on to the future of what our shop is going to do. Right now I have a new Focus ST and GT500 we are working on and making parts/tunes for. I do not have the finances or time needed to take this to the final stage. I have 12 guys on a list waiting for transmissions right now and constant questions about them, so the interest is fairly high and the market/profit on doing these is there. It's been a solid year of my time, money and effort and I just need to move on. I will sell the project off with a written non-compete agreement on it.

The status of my car..........I don't know yet. I don't want to sell it. I don't want a 5 speed back in it. I have some other ideas but have more important things to do now and that's what I am going to concentrate on for now.

IF you are interested in buying out this project to finish it and sell these feel free to contact me. A single kit was to sell for $7500, I have quite a bit of inventory and spares so you can guess it's not going to be a small investment but it's worthwhile for someone else to finish.

So close... Hopefully you'll take another look at it after you get over the let-down.

+1 I've been quietly following this from the start and I must admit it's kinda sad seeing all the let downs, I was really hoping it would all work out for you guys and you'd end up selling tons of these transmissions as a reward for all the hard work, deducation and money invested. Sometimes it's better to walk away for a while and come back with a fresh mind someday down the road. Keep us up to date with other projects Dave!
