I would see if FP will help you out first. Especially since they messed up the compressor housing...

I will at least try to get that taken care of. I would imagine the rest is pretty much my fault for being ignorant to the fact that they're making the green into different turbine sizes. Like I said via text, maybe having the larger one isn't such a bad thing.
Bleh. LOL

I'm not sure, based on what you've said throughout the thread, I would really push to get the FP54. I would definitely see what FP can do for you ASAP, have some faith in them!

Good luck, hopefully you'll have what you want sooner than later!

I will ask and see what happens. The housing has already been cut for the larger turbine so I'm not sure what they can do.
I'm just bummed because FP finally came out with the exact turbo I've always wanted and I had a brand-new turbine housing with the single flapper just waiting. I went through a lot of trouble to make it happen, from taking a hit on selling my 71 HTA and selling just about every left over Evo part I had to make this work.
Disappointed, but I'll live LOL

I am confused, did you call and confirm that you were ordering an FP54? If so, then don't settle for receiving the wrong item.

Update:

Per Amber, the only way to get an FP54 is to order the turbo as a whole. If you upgrade a turbine housing to the green, you have to get the larger turbine wheel.
She did apologize for the mixup on the compressor cover. She's not sure how was the Notation stating I wanted the stock inlet got removed.
The downside is I have to box the turbo up and send it back so I'm looking at another week or two of downtime. Yay [sarcasm]

Well that sucks. Oh well. With your focus on track days over autocross, you'll benefit from the reduced back pressure with the larger turbine. On a 25psi track tune, you'll still see full boost before 4k rpms.

Why do you have to send the turbo back? You can't just trade compressor covers with them?

I assume since they have no idea of my competency level, they don't trust me to swap the covers out in case I damage something and then later return the turbo to them as being faulty? Or that I might damage the cover taking it off before I send it to them?
From a business standpoint, I understand. It just sucks that I'm looking at another week or two downtime. If I ever have a shop do something for me and they get it right the first time, no delays, I may just have a heart attack. LOL

Cancel order, get your MHI hotside back to sell, and buy a Blouch 1.0/2.0?

I've been reading this thread for a while, just basically out of interest for this new FP product. I run an old red, and am happy with it.
So, I don't claim to be setting the world on fire with my intelligence, so I need more explanation. Are you saying that you can't send them a mhi hotside for a Fp54? If so, why not? Just asking for some clarification. Thanks.

Why? You wanted an FP54 Green. If you expressed that to FP, and they sent you "something else", then getting your money back should be an option.

Correct. If you send in a stock MHI housing, they can only do the larger turbine; the FP54 is not an option. I was frustrated so didn't think to ask why, not that it matters. It is what it is.

Well, that's the problem. Technically, i didn't ask for an FP54 (now that i know the FP54 is not the "new green"), I only asked for an HTZ. When I saw this thread, I started looking up the 54. FP no longer lists the MHI Green on their website so i couldn't see the specs on it. I could only find the SS housing version. Then I saw this under the description for the FP54:

Once upon a time the Green was known as the torque king with it's smaller 65MM TD06 turbine and responsive 73MM HTA compressor wheel. In 2014 we introduced the Stainless housings and changed to a bigger 67MM turbine wheel which gave the turbo more power but at a loss of response which a lot of people missed. Well we heard you and now we've paired the Green with our new 9 Blade FP54 turbine wheel and our new 73HTZ aero to produce a quicker spooling turbo that still produces 57LB a minute
My mistake was assuming that the Green used to have the 65mm wheel, then they went to 67mm when swapping to the SS housing, and now they are going back to the 65mm wheel. I also assumed that this info was for all Greens, from now on. Why would they use the larger turbine on a Green upgrade when they "heard us"?. LOL. Anyway, since i thought I understood what was going on, I didn't think to ask for a 54FP. Basically, I didn't realize the 54FP wasn't a green, but a seperate turbo i.e. you have the 71HTA, 54FP, HTZ Green, Red, etc.

So... should their site have more info? Maybe. Should I have asked? Yes, but I didn't know I needed to ask. It all boils down to a lack of info on both our parts (since I never mentioned the 54 during correspondence).

Hopefully my situation saves someone else from dropping $1000 and getting back something they didn't expect.

No wonder man, that's confusing as all hell... I'm surprised anyone got exactly what they were hoping with all of that.

Im sure FP knows this is a ridiculous amount of changing and new stuff, they should definitely change the descriptions and give exact specs of everything. That way you know exactly what your are ordering.
