If you can feel 10hp you have a very sensitive butt I will say however that on cold nights a good boost spike that hits 2-3# more can be an easy 20-30ft/lbs extra and that you can feel. When your bottom end is already teetering on the edge of extra crankcase ventilation that's all it takes. Don't take my word for it just ask Sean
That's not an Evo block. The girdle looks like a 4B12 maybe? The oil filter housing is totally different than the Evo 4B11T. Outlander or Lancer? Either way, that is not from an Evo.
Well my 2.3 Evo 8 motor is smoked. I did a few pulls and of course on the last one it broke up and sound like my valve train. I was only a half mile from home pulled the car into the garage and up on the lift. I drained the oil no metal flakes but could smell a lot of gas. I pulled the plugs the were all 1 and 4 were wet, I put the bore scope down and can see a puddle of gas in both. I then decided to put a magnet down each on and pulled out a little metal in # 4, I opened my oil filter well one step led to the other here are the pics.
It only had about 6000 miles on it had it for 2 summers and changed the oil and plugs about 5 times. I have no detonation on the pistons at all clean and still look new. I have no idea but gotta rebuild.
Then I would say there was an issue with gas getting past the rings (contaminating the oil) or an issue with the meth system not activating and causing detonation. The bearings show signs of both detonation and oil contamination. Can you post some pictures of the tops of the pistons and combustion chambers?
