Not sure. Could be. Didn't bother to pull the head. 2010 trade in with questionable mods. It got shined up, sold, towed back in.

Engine is SMOKED!!!!!!

Well my 2.3 Evo 8 motor is smoked. I did a few pulls and of course on the last one it broke up and sound like my valve train. I was only a half mile from home pulled the car into the garage and up on the lift. I drained the oil no metal flakes but could smell a lot of gas. I pulled the plugs the were all 1 and 4 were wet, I put the bore scope down and can see a puddle of gas in both. I then decided to put a magnet down each on and pulled out a little metal in # 4, I opened my oil filter well one step led to the other here are the pics.

It only had about 6000 miles on it had it for 2 summers and changed the oil and plugs about 5 times. I have no detonation on the pistons at all clean and still look new. I have no idea but gotta rebuild.

Looks like mass contamination from a spun bearing. Something failed and contaminated everything else in a hurry.

Are you running it on ethanol or normal gas?

Then I would say there was an issue with gas getting past the rings (contaminating the oil) or an issue with the meth system not activating and causing detonation. The bearings show signs of both detonation and oil contamination. Can you post some pictures of the tops of the pistons and combustion chambers?
