Evo 8 DD, 400whp, best and cheapest clutch?
Evo 8 DD, 400whp, best and cheapest clutch?
Hey everyone
So I am going to be upgrading my car soon and I think along with modifications, I might need a new clutch considering that I don't even know how many miles are on my current clutch or what kind it is. So, this car is my daily driver and I'm looking for a cheap (something that won't break the bank) but a nice clutch that can withstand with these mods (I think anywhere between 380-420whp on 93)
-Ets 3" FMIC
-ETS UICP And LICP
-ets intake
-GSC S1 CAMSHAFTS
-hallman pro mbc (might want to turn boost up to 28 PSI)
-greddy TBE
-12500cc FIC injectors
-fp green 73hta
- 255 walbro
-evo 9 BOV
any opinions are helpful, thanks!

Have you ever launched it on that clutch? And how many miles have you put on it? Any notice of wear yet?
No, never launched (not a 1/4 miler type guy). Car is set up as a track day car only. Approx 15K on the ACT. Drives like a stocker IMO & is holding up just fine. If i were to build the motor for over 500whp, I would likely consider something more robust (Exedy / Quartermaster etc)
If you are going to upgrade your clutch, do that first (are you going with a lightened flywheel?). I'm a believer of breaking in clutch (like new brakes) to get the most contact surface before launching. After breakin, then upgrade everything else. Do your fuel last since you can't drive it until it is tuned.
You may want to look at a 3-port and let the ECU control boosts based on gear and throughout the RPM range.
Just saw you are only getting tuned for 93. Fuel pump should be good until you go E85. Then you'll need rewiring.
