Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>

The dollars to cover a warranty repair are paid from the manufacturer to the dealer. That is why manufacturers have employees such as district service managers whose job it is to review and approve all substantional warranty claims.

They have of course denied claims, and some of the denied claims have no doubt been made for incorrect and questionable illegal. Does this mean that Mitsu corporation has some kind of secret database that they use to identify anyone that might be autocrossing their car? One does not follow the other.
I understand that warrenty claims are paid by corporate, but by your logic dealers would never not warrenty anything.
Ultimately the dealers are subject to inspection for having too many warrenty claims. They are thus the first line of defense for corporations, whether they like it or not. And they are the ones that are yelled at when they approve a warrenty claim that they should not have or at least without approval.
Like I said, I dont doubt that you claim we unjustly denied. I do doubt that conclusions that you have drawn from this. That there is some kind of Mitsu program that is surfing the internet waiting to deny claims, or that there is some kind of systematic denial of warrenty claims.
Look, I am sorry about what happened to you, I just think that you are being screwed by the dealer, I find it really suspect about the other claims. Also, with anything like this, there are two sides to a story. I would just like a little more information before I come to the radical conclusions that have been made here. Very few of the conclusions followly logically from the evidence present so far.
I wish you good luck in your appeals/arbitration process, and I believe that if you pursue it, you should have no problems winning. So, I dont wish you any ill will, and I hope you screw the bastards

Ringthree, my disagreement is with the suggestion that this is a dealer issue. Whether it is a clutch or the entire motor, a dealer can not do ANY warranty repair work whatsoever without first doing a vehicle service inquiry. In my case, according to what I was told by the dealer and by
a "warranty restriction" was entered on my Evo on 16-May. Based on that by
own addmission they proactively restricted the warranty on my Evo before I'd ever taken it in for it's first service. Nothing to do with the dealer.
Whether or not
is doing it automatically through a web crawler or doing it manually, one thing I know for certain is that they are denying warranties for participating in SCCA events. And at least in my case, they claim to have done it before I took the car in for service. Based on that it seems logical to assume that they may be doing it based on an automated approach -- if not then in my case they did it manually. Makes no difference to me at the end of the day which approach was taken. It is not my primary concern HOW
made the connection, but that they proactively voided the warranty for my doing precisely what I told them when purchasing the vehicle I'd do.
I'd like to keep this thread focused on topic. People who pop in here making claims about that it's really the dealer and make exagerated statements about what is being said here (you're reference to the sky is falling, 100,000 views, etc) add no value to the thread.

ringthree is most likely attempting to confuse this thread and try to minimize it. But proactive warranty denial for safely driving around cones is so absurd and this deserves the very negative attention it is recieving as it spreads like wildfire across many forums. I hope whoever looked up SCCA results online is looking at this and thinking of where they are going to be looking for a paycheck next.
Void my warranty?
I have a 2003 evolution 8, I have 3000 miles in the vehicle and my clutch died on me abut 1 week ago, I need your help, because mitus does not want to fix my car because I have an HKS ssbov mitsu said that that voided my warranty, I was like WTF!!! The BOV does not have to do anything with the clutch, has any body had this problem or is it just me? Is mitsu right or are they just being asses?
This thread is being used to collect all appropriate Mitsubishi/Warranty problems. The thread search feature will make this useful to find past examples warranty issues.

That sucks because my moon roof has started to make noises. It sounds like it needs lube on the rollers. However, I have a turbo back exhaust on my Evo and I am afraid I have to remove it before I take the car into the dealer for service.

read up, print some things off and take them to the dealer and see if they change their tune. If not, tell them the next phone call they recieve will be from an attorney.

call the district manager of mitsu. They will call them tell them to fix it because EVERYONE knows a BOV will not make your clutch go bad. If they take it off and there is blueing form slippage they may have a case but right now they don't have jack.

best to do is go to another dealership, one u haven't been to. put everythng back to stock..yea it sucks, ne thng u do to ur car ur voiding warranty even though its something small.
Be careful with this. Most clutch failures below 3000 miles are due to abuse and not a parts failure. If you are sure that you are not responsible for the failure then fight the dealer on this. If, however, there is a chance that once the clutch is out and they can determine abuse, you will be stuck paying their price -- at least for the removal.
If it was you abusing the clutch, accept the consequences and just pay to upgrade the clutch. If you can’t afford to abuse it, don't.
