Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
I have a 05 with 15,000 miles and a blown motor (spun bearing). very light mods and warranty was denied. A freaking connecting rod bolt nut backed off in the motor, obviously not mod related. search for my SN for the threads. Sign me up.
That doesnt always work. Mitsu had a copy of EvoM posts I have made in the past when I went in for warranty work, and denied coverage just because of that.
I'm 24 and work as a Software Engineer for the government.

i just got through with my district rep in louisiana. he said they will try to change the type of transmission fluid and see if that gets rid of the grinding. ive got 15,000 miles on an 05. he also said that if that didnt work that they will break down the engine and look at the synchros and if they r worn that they will deny me and they say that it is my driving thats causing it. im getting my car back tomorrow, and if it grinds again i will start the lawsuit the next day. good luck.

When will people learn that the Moss Magnusson Act is a joke? The manufacturer can pretty much point to any modification that increases horsepower and say it affected just about anything in the drivetrain. A new exhaust? Hey, you blew the transmission becuase the transmission wasn't designed to handle the additional horsepower. Now you and I know that's crap, but a judge or arbitrator could certainly find that to be a compelling argument. I heard of a recent case of a Subaru owner who sued Subaru for a similar situation. They lost the case and had to pay Subaru $50,000 in attorney fees. It's over on NASIOC. Anyone thinking of suing after modifying their vehicle might want to read this:

they did look at the synchros. problem is that one dealership is saying clutch and one saying that its me. my car is bone stock. the sychro crap is bs. if the clutch is fd up then the sychros will be damaged as well.
I have an appointment on Wed to get my right headlight fixed because it continually moves up and down until I adjust the switch. I'm just waiting to see what excuse they come up with and how they're going to blame it on me.
I've been dealing with Mitsu's warranty problems for many years now. I had an Eclipse GSX before my Evo and I was never once able to get any warranty work done, even when it was obviously a defective part. I had even done everything by the book on that car from having every service interval and oil change (I supplied my own oil however) done at the dealership so there was a record I was properly maintaining the car. Still, when it came down to it they always came up with some excuse why it was my fault.
If not for the Evo being the car that it is, I would have NEVER bought another Mitsu and I tell everybody I know not to.

This thread worries me. Denying a warranty claim due to aggressive driving? How in the world do they prove that without seeing me do it?
Both dealers in my area are clueless… I visit them and tell them that I need the 5K mile service for an Evolution. They try to tell me that they only have a 3750 mile service. They claimed all that was needed was an oil change. I had to ask for synthetic oil and rotate the tires myself. I show them the service manual from Mitsubishi and they say “Don’t worry… WE are Mitsubishi!”
I tell them that Mitsubishi corporate voids warrantees for not having the proper maintenance done, and they shove a sheet of paper with generic service intervals and say, “this is from Mitsubishi.”
I’ve kept my car stock for this very reason. I pay the dealers inflated prices for scheduled maintenance to avoid any doubt I am caring for my car. Now I have to worry they are going to void my warranty for aggressive driving?

well i dont know if it is normal but they tried to make me pay $80 for them to read my codes. they said that the warranty will cover the actual fixing of the code but not the check.
my last vehicle was an 03 ranger edge (baja'd out) and Ford covered everything when i had problems. I mean, it is a full warranty right?

dont ever trust mitsubishi. they dont know sh**. get a copy of you owners manual, the page with the service, and demand they go by you book. if not, call mitsubishi headquarter and they will give them a word or two. if they f up your car then they will have to pay for it one day. just remember to not backdown on anything. there job is to rip you off anyway they can.
