Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
Is the extended warranty actually through the dealership or is it via a 3rd party. Look at the documentation with the warranty and read it. It normally tells you how to cancel it, and how much the remainder of it is worth.

I bought the car from another guy who was the original owner but I havent really looked at it though. I didnt know it said how much it would be worth either, I guess I should have looked at that before I posted, but its an 03 and they didnt have the 10 yr 100k warranty on the 03's....Im pretty sure. So he bought an extended one from the dealer. Ill have to look at it and post back, thanks for the help, i appreciate it guys.
I just dropped my Evo MR off at the Steven's Creek Dealership in San Jose, CA for warranty work on replacing the front driver side and rear passenger side Brembo calibers due to paint chipping, peeling, and fading. It's closer to my home. I am also replacing all the brake pads with Ferodo DS2500 pads.
I am also having them look at the ACD too. The ACD lights for the Tarmac, Gravel, and Snow for all three sometimes stays light up. I am assuming it maybe MAF issue.
I also have a oil leak and assume it may be a hose. I only have 20,000 miles. I'll keep you all posted to see if they come through.

Any of you guys with 03's or 04's getting the brakes/wing fixed under warranty? The reason I am asking is because my warranty is expired. If anyone could chime in that would be great. Thanks.

A lot are, it all depends on the service manager. I work for Volvo Cars in the parts dept (10yrs) and I can say that the manufacturer will not replace a wear item under warranty unless that faulty part has caused that part to wear. If in this case all brake pads have even wear, they will not be changed out at a no cost charge to the customer under warranty. I can say that being in the business can help when being told that something can't be covered under warranty for my Evo. I have an annoying clicking noise in the suspension that I can;t find yet, and they said "Sorry, aftermarket suspension. We can't help on with this this time." But again, it all depends on the service manager and the relationship he has with the rep
I just got a call back and the ferodo pads have been installed and the Mitsu dealer will only warranty the front left driver side caliber. Bummer. They said the rear passenger caliber was hit by a rock which caused it to chip. The oil leak will not be serviced under warranty because mods were done on the engine. Sucks!! I contacted WORKS and they will look at the issue and resolve it since they did my cams. WORKS Rules!! As for the ACD lighting up they have no clue at this time. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Has anyone in the Northern VA / DC area had good luck with warranty claims at a dealer? If so where did you go? When I pick up my Evo in about a week and a half I'm going to bring it by a dealer to see if they can help me out with the fading wing and the Brownbos. It should still be under warranty, the car is a 03 with 24.5k miles.
Haven't got a chance to peruse through the 89 posts, but I just want to point out that even if you have aftermarket parts or non "approved" Mitsu oil, it is on the burden of Mitsu to prove it caused the defect in question according to the Magnussen-Moss Act:
Magnussen-Moss Act of 1978 was created for consumer protection from manufacturers voiding warrantys without reasonable cause. Most notable feature of the Magnussen-Moss Act is protections for persons with devices, vehicles, or products protected under Warranty. Warrantors are not allowed to make arbitrary decisions in their own favor to void warranties for changes made to these unless they can specifically prove that the added or modified part caused the failure. Although some states prevent attorneys from advertising as specializing in specific fields, there are some that specialize in this field and can be found on the internet. So if you refill your own printerink cartridge and the power cord fails, or add an aftermarket exhaust to your vehicle and a headlight fails, or a variety of other things consumers are likely to do to something they purchase, a manufacturer cannot simply void your warranty with this as the specified cause.

If you don't want them brown, don't go to the race track.
