Exactly. It is near impossible to clear ALL contaminents from an oiling system. The best way to fight this is to put yourself in their shoes, hat do they want to hear? They want to know this car is not a track car, it's not raced, state you became leary of even driving the car at the level it was designed for after the first motor went. DO NOT; say all evo's do this, don't say it's junk or downplay the product at all, don't tell them sob stories of how you were inconvienienced. Act like you don't care how much your inconvienienced, you know cars all have mechanical problems, turbocharged sports cars included, and you are more then willing to work with the dealer and MMNA themselves to get this resolved. Also don't mention online resources, believe it or not were the dealers enemy on these message boards. Don't threaten to attempt lemon law, that's a losing battle. Don't elude to the fact that your technically inclined either, play dumb. Explain to them you talked to some high performance engine builders while your car was being rebuilt and they stated that the entire oiling system one avehicle with contaminents in the oil needs to be replaced. Turbos, oil coolers, oil lines, all need to be replaced in order to remove the deposits. Say this expert also said that flushing has a very low success rate when rebuilding an engine with solid contaminents. Dont act like the mitsubishi mechanics are wrong, just say that you want to be a happy customer just as much as they want you to be a happy customer and maybe the answer to that is a more through rebuild. Did they say what caused the bearings to be "spun"?? was it contaminents (you can see them embedded in the other non spun bearings) or just lack of lubrication (blue on the spun bearing) and no contaminents or very little on the others. If theres pitting embedded contaminents on the non-spun bearings, it was clearly a contamination of the oil, which im assuming you havnt changed since this whole ordeal started?? and assming theres no other entry of particles( i.e aftermarket intakes, missing or aftermarket oil caps) the particles must have been an already occouring condition within the motor after the rebuild (NOT YOUR FAULT)....
All i can say is, don't go in there with an attitude, be pleasnt and willing to work with whoever you have to work with, noone wants to do anything for an *******. Ask to see the # 2, 3 and 4 rod bearings, the #1 too. and see if you cant get the opinion of ANOTHER mitsu. facility.

Calipers and wing replaced under warranty due to fading and peeling. Rotors turned under warranty when the calipers were replaced.
My first Evo was also bought back due to the P0300 misfire. So, that might explain why they've been nice enough to cover these relatively minor issues for me without question.
As far as your engine goes... If they replace your shortblock again I would definitely urge them to replace the entire oiling system. As someone said before once you contaminate the system there is no way to flush all the debris out and just doesn't make financial sense to risk damaging another shortblock for the cost of an oil cooler and some lines. They should have done it the first time.

HPDE and warranty
I'm planning to participate in HPDE events but I've heard horror stories on track events and warranty being voided. So my question is could I register with screen name and different car model say subaru? I suppose I need to cover my license plate and VIN also. Anyone has experience with NASA events? Thanks.
Not to be an ***...But you may get flamed. I am just letting you know ahead of time, if the dealer wants to know...He will find out. That is like trying to "Scam" the warranty system. That is the reason I got hassled because I had an exhaust ONLY on my car and the oil pump seal went out with 2K miles on it and NO track days.
If you are going to race, accept the responsibilities and the consequences that go with it....Good luck though.

Thanks for the warning, and I know the pay to play argument. My car is pretty much stock. I can understand voiding warranty when you do crazy things to your car. But I can't recall any other manufactorers voiding warranty for driving school/track, especially for a performance model.
Do you really mean that? The things done at HPDE would be the first thing to void your warranty...it's way worse than an exhaust or boost controller. Regardless, you're really being paranoid worrying about Mitsu employees keeping tabs on your signing up and participating in HPDEs.
yes, but technically, it's a "driving school".
Auto-x is a timed competition, whereas an hpde is not. (don't tell that to some people
)
Honestly, just give it some time, run it stock, maintain the car, and you'll be fine.
I waited til after 15k to throw on mods, and it hasn't been back to the dealer since.
...just don't toast your brembros, and then want them replaced

Extended Warranty?
Ok I have a question for anyone who can help, or has done this already, how much do you think the dealer would give me if I sell them my extended warranty back to them? Also will they check to see if I have any aftermarket parts on my car, cuz I do...will they not buy it back if I do? Someone help out here cuz Id love to sell it back but Idk what they will try to do, sneaky mitsu dealer bastards.
I cant really help you on your question since I've never bought a extended warranty on any of my cars.
I just dont believe in those things and I think most of the time it's a waste of $.
On a side note: I had a friend that had extended warranty (it was a used car) and had to take it back because he was having problems and they gave him a really hard time repairing the car.
At the end, he still had to pay half of the repair cost.
Not worth the extra money IMO.

I know for sure on my Acura they would not buy it back. Why would they, once they have your money they arent going to give it back. I think its a great deal on most cars but one one you are going to mod their really isnt a point!
