It all depends on the dealer really. At huntington they still service my car under warranty and I have a good amount of mods [upgraded turbo, no cat, cams, etc]

But then again I have the Vishnu Stage 2 kit so it's pretty stealth. Looks like I only have exhaust

+ 1 on the dealer. I recently had my cailpers and wing replaced under warranty with all my mods. Also depends on what you try to get covered under warranty.

Warranty Arbitration - Need Help

I am about to go through arbitration with Mitsubishi and my local dealership over their denial of my warranty. I know one of the things they are going to try to say is that mine is the only 1 with these problems, so I need to get a list of people who have had similar problems.

I would prefer that the problems happened on unmodified and non raced cars, cause they are also now trying to say that I race my car (even after they did a tear down and found no sign of abuse or lack of maintenence). I will take any failures though.

Here are the list of problems:

1. thrown bearings (rod and/or main thrust bearing)
2. clutch failure
3. warped brake rotors
4. peeling clear coat on wing
5. peeling paint on Brembo calipers
6. paint fading on car

If you could let me know what problems your cars have had, and if it was fixed by Mitsu or not as well as approximate mileage and what, if any mods were done to the car at the time.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know that I read about the calipers and wing peeling/fading, and people were getting those problems fixed. If you have a stock car and you have bad bearings then you should be getting the engine replaced. I mean if you did constant launches and beat the hell out of the car I can see them not giving you your warranty. The clutch is not going to be under warranty. Did you buy this car used? I dont know about the paint fading either. I mean it really depends on if the car was garage kept/ always in the sun etc. Environmental factors arent going to be covered under warranty either. Mechanically the car should be totally covered though. Thats just my 2cents.

Count me in for warped rotors, Brembo paint issues, and body paint quality issues (bubbling, rust, general poor quality, etc.).

The short block was replaced, then threw another bearing, rebuilt, threw another bearing, replaced threw another bearing and now they refuse to cover it anymore.

As far as the brake and clutch issues, they have been addressed, I just need a list of people who have had the problems, cause they have brought those receipts into play saying they are evidence that I abused my car.

Paint fading will actually be addressed by the Simoniz people later, just wanted to add that into the equation.

I went through the warped rotors already. had to replace them on my own. they said it was due to normal wear and tear. I also have the "pink" caliper problem. Never raced.

Sounds to me like you're having problems with the oiling system if this car is indeed not raced nor abused. Any chance they didn't replace the oil cooler/lines when they rebuilt/reinstalled the motor? Perhaps shavings from bearings are clogging the oil passages and causing your lower end issues. You've had the engine replaced four times for this? Maybe the pump is bad.

Here's how it went; engine spun a rod bearing, after some convincing and the tear down, they replaced the short block. They gave the car back, within a couple hundred miles I brought it back cause it was making a horrible sound, turned out that it threw the main thrust bearing, they rebuilt the newly installed bottom end and as soon as they started the car up, it spun another main thrust bearing. They determined that the oil passages weren't lined up properly in that block (even though the mitsu field rep told them straight up that mitsubishi does not make defective parts), so ordered another short block and installed that, within 3500 miles, it threw the same (#1) rod bearing. I am unsure what oil lines, if any were replaced, I do believe the pump was though, I doubt the cooler, will have to check the receipts. I have told them that from day 1 that it needs more than just a short block to prevent the problem from reoccurring, but they didn't want to take advice from a "back yard mechanic"

I'm sorry, do you think it is too much to ask that paint not peel off my car? Maybe you like pink calipers? I don't care for them much myself.
