This whole thread really makes me wonder if trading in my Honda is a good idea. You just plain can not beat Honda service.

So don't trade it in. Just keep it, and buy an Evo. That way you can use the Honda as a daily driver, and use the Evo just to go take nice cruises in....

I spent about $3k in attorney fees. To really take it through to resolution would have cost more. I ended up paying out-of-pocket about $7k for repairs.

His Evo has had no other motor problems.

Warranty question,,, should i remove my cams?

I noticed i have a small oil leak that might be coming from my headgasket area....... I am planning on taking the car in for service, but was wondering if i should remove my cams? Do you think the dealer will even be able to tell an aftermarket cam from stock? Should i remove them 'just in case' ?

I think it depends on the severity of the problem. Do you have headstuds? It is possible they weren't torqued correctly. If you did the install yourself i would just try re-torquing everything and see if the problem persists. If it does pull the head, check things out, put in a new head gasket and re-torque everything correctly and go about your business. I think this would be easier than removing everything just to possibly not have them cover it. They should be able to tell aftermarket cams from stock cams since most come with the brand name stamping on it. But you never know, those service techs have been known to do some pretty dumb things. Good luck.

/\/\ yes try and figure it out yourself first. If not then yes I would suggest removing in case of warranty issues...good luck with the situation!

Often times the dealership will be able to tell if you took the head off the car, at least that's what happened with one of my friends. He uninstalled his cams and took his car in for warranty work but they wouldnt do anything because they could tell that he took the head off.

they probably saw the different color screws.

i think that's how they tell.

Ones inside are gold and outside are blackish.

i mean it doesnt hurt if you have the time to uninstall and reinstall the cams when warranty work is done. It could go either way, i say go for it.

all depends, iv seen cars not warranty with no mods at all, and iv seen cars with exhaust, cams, intake, intercooler, MBC, and alky get warranty for blown tranny and transfer case. it all depends on dealer.

It's very easy to tell if you have cams or not, the stock ones are hollow inside and it's visible when you take off the oil cap as they have some holes on a side as well.
I'm 99% sure they would try to void your warranty.

What ever happened to paying to play? You modded the car and now you want someone else to fix it? For free?

First you blame ARP's for the leak https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=179183 , now you want the dealer to fix your leak? How could this POSSIBLY be warranty work? I hope they laugh you right out of there. It's guys like you that make Mitsu's warranty stance what it is so guys like me have to fight to get legitimate warranty work done.

Nice one - you screw up your car and expect mitsubishi to fix it.

No wonder Mitsubishi is screwed.
The quality of customer looks to be just as poor as the quality of service...........
