many of these longer warranties such as powertrain only cover the first owner. If the car is sold it goes transfers to a shorter warranty. kia's do this I'm not sure about mitsu though.

I could be mistaken but if I understood the dealer when I got it he said that the five year bumper to bumper and the ten year drivetrain was for the original owner. I think he said that the drivetrain turned into a five year and the b to b would be a three year or 36k miles.

They can tell if they need to. It depends on if they have a reason to look for it or not.

All they have to do is run a check sum on the CPU and they will be able to tell if the code has been altered.

Give us a reason to look for it and we can find it.

Warranty question? on EVO IX

Can the warranty be voided by the dealership if a person installs an aftermarket cat-back exhaust in a new EVO?

Most dealerships won't void for just a cat-back. At least the ones I've talked to said it was o.k. Call the dealership before you install it and ask.

They can void your warranty for almost ANY modification if they want... it just depends if they will be ****** about it (or if you know someone at that dealer/garage).

they wouldn't void your whole warranty, only things that go wrong that are related to whatever you install. I had a tbe, mbc, intake, safc, and turbo timer. My fifth gear synchro went out and they replaced under warranty

You shouldn't have any problems with a cb.

Wonder if they will void a warranty if someone had mods done to their car at the MOD 05 meet in the parking lot of the factory by invited aftermarket vendors, whom gave away items in the raffle(i.e. parts and reflashes) in front of mitsu engineers whom where there to give an Eclipse to one of these vendors for mods? Just curious........

You think a mechanic that drives stock Evos everyday won't notice an extra 40 hp when he takes it around the block?
