If they really wanted to be hard-asses they could potentially use this against you if you have engine problems (even if you have receipts).

I'm not sure about Mitsu (don't have my Evo yet) but most, if not all, manufacturers state that all maintenance during the warranty period must be performed by an authorized dealer...I'm guessing that this will be in the small print of your warranty agreement somewhere.

In brief, short shifters increase the wear on synchros; I can totally see why they'd void driveline warrantee.

That is BS. Short shifters DO NOT increase wear on synchros. That is absolutely impossible.

If any shifter will increase wear on synchros it would be the stock one. It gives you more leverage against the shifter cables (longer throw for the same amount of cable movement), allowing you to put more pressure on the shift mechanism in the tranny.

Anyway, a dealership will not even be able to tell you have a short shifter unless the mechanic drives EVOs all the time and knows exactly how the shift feel is.

This will NOT void your warranty. The dealerships around you may give you crap and say it does, but in will not. I had my synchros replaced per the TSB even after I had a short shifter. The dealership was even nice enough to slap a new clutch in for me (no labor charge) while they had the tranny out.

I have heard this argument about the synchros before. What is the rational behind this? Based on my basic knowledge of how the shifter mechanism works I agree with EVOlutionary.

Thanks

Back from the dead, has anyone bought a third party extended warranty and had mod friendly warranty work covered? Im interested in finding out more about this because my warranty will be up in a few months from Mitsu.

Also, what exactly is the warranty on the 03's, I bought mine used so I never found out, is it just 3years/36K miles and thats it for the powertrain and everything?

voided warranty need help

if i had just a catback on my car can void my powertrain warranty??

like engine or tranny

i called up and asked if it would void my engine and tranny warranty and they told me it would void a few things a few things but they didn't say what it would void?

i have a greddy ti from my old 04 and never asked about the warranty with that car and i don't want to mess with the warranty with this car so the only thing i care about is the engine and tranny warranty

i don't know if i should sell it or put it on this car can some one help me out here

keep it, it should only void your exhaust warranty not the rest of your power train warranty. Go to a mod friendly dealership it would help. I have pretty much a turbo back and my warranty is still good. Be cool with one of the reps....

I bought an extended warrenty through mitsu when I bought my 05. I basically will pay an extra 3 car payments onto the end of the 6 years. I didnt know the warrenty was not worth **** when I bought the car. Does anyone know if I can cash it in/refuse to pay for it on the grounds it is worthless?
