No wonder Evo owners are guilty before proven innocent. Thanks a lot.

Well in my defense, after reading all of the good things about ARP and how well they work..... I can only assume the leak is not caused by the ARP studs, and rather a factory defect. So i am now seeking warranty repair.

They were installed improperly
I used the 1x1 method
not torqued properly
and torque them 75 ft/lb using arp's moly lube......... Re-torque them after 1 heat cycle (as recommended)
and you had a predictable result
Guess what? 500 miles later I have a nice oil leak from my head gasket
Did you cycle torque them when you installed them? Not a factory defect here, but an install defect. Sorry.

Mine broke this weekend as well and I'm pretty pissed off about it. The car is at the dealer right now. They're "looking at it". There has been warranty talk but it looks to me as though they're going to try to weasel out of it somehow. Luckily, the car is completely stock in and perfect condition, it just-so-happened that the seat is a piece of crap.

How in the HELL does a seat just break anyway? I've never seen such bs.

LOL. Where? In NC?

Right now I don't know if this will be covered by warranty or not. The car is at Brad Benson Mitsubishi, which worries me already considering that I've noticed they have the worst reputation of any Mitsubishi dealer around here. While I was watching the service managers' faces while they looked at the seat, it seemed to me as though they KNOW they should replace it under warranty, but they're looking for a way out of it. One of the guys even mentioned, "Oh yeah, just that back piece alone is $1500" so I'm guessing they're going to try to get out of it any way they can.

I may as well ask for corporate's number already. Anyone have that available?

out of curiosity, are you guys all 2003's that have the broken seat backs?

and what exactly happens as the problem progresses? Like is there an undue amount of squeaking, then a cluncking, and it just breaks one day? describe the problem to me if you could please. . .

(just so the OTHER evom members could get a grip on the situation). . .

Mine is an '03 and the bolster just above the level of the center armrest cracks. At one of our dyno days, I checked every Evo there and only one hadn't been damaged. I got the run around from the dealer an corporate, I just blew it off after several months fighting with these crooks. I doubt that I will ever buy another car from Mitsubishi...

Mine is an '04.

My girl actually broke the driver's seat... She was sitting in the driver's seat, reached back for her purse, and the side bolster broke. The same one as described above. The one right above the center console. There were no warnings and no previous problems.
The worst part is that my girl isn't even heavy. She's 6'1", 140. Pretty thin girl!

Still can't believe this seat BS.

So this is bumper to bumper warranty

Driving home from my parents house for a weekend visit, my evo IX was idling really rough around 600rpm and a check engine light came on, so I pulled over.

I called the mitsu hotline, and they got me a tow with the quickness.
They took it to capital mitsubishi in San Jose, CA... oh noes...

The only modifications I had on the car are HIDs... and reded out hvac lights, evo 7 tails, and a perrin antenna.. that's it...

Well I got a call this morning saying that the HIDs are considered modifications and they can't touch the car for service until a mitsu rep comes in to determine if i voided my warranty. The wait will probably be in 1-2 weeks

WTF I seriously hate Mitsu, this is a 3 month old brand new car with 4000 miles!
