Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
Excellent suggestion ... I'll check out the Melbourne forum!
BTW the rally and super v8 race coverage on channel Ten in Melbourne today was excellent!
Wish we had that kind of motorsports coverage in my home town. Our local cable TV doesn't even have the Speed Channel.

I'll have to pat my fellow Aussies on the back there, Australia does produce excellent coverage of motorsports.
Did you know that RaceCam was first developed by Channel 7 Australia, for use at the famous Bathurst 1000 at Mt Panorama.
It's now used by everyone who covers motorsports, worldwide.

First of - I have only been trolling this forums because I was trying to research my next car purchase.
Been interested in both the STI and the EVO MR. For sure it will not be an EVO after this story. It has actually opened my eyes on warranty issues. Also in a more global sense.
Gives me a warning that with the purchase of an "affordable" sportscar you cannot expect the performance and reliability and performance of a Porsche (or MB?BMW). Also will you not have a warranty to help out with the department of reliability ( at least with the affordable sportscar)
My occasional preference of driving style would probably be labeled as abusive ( and it is...) .Rightfully so my warranty could (should) be denied.
With this attitude I actually agree with early posters like KurtP and others, whose voices had been shut down it seems. Warranty should not be misunderstood as sponsorship.
MSM_S2K I nevertheless wish you all the best in your quest against Mistsubishi. Mostly for the fact that Mistsubishi's PR lady made some questionable statements. ("You’re not going to get black-flagged just for entering an auto-cross,") which raised some serious doubts in me regarding Mistsubishi's ethics and the way your case was handled.
I also have another conspiracy theory: A Mist employee (or dealer employee) attended the said SCCA event and saw your son abuse the EVO and decided upon the seen abuse to black-flag the car. NO websearch etc..
Well maybe there is a Mist employee at every SCCA event blag flagging everyone ....jk.I certainly wouldn't write off the dealer involvement entirely. Again only my $0.02 and a wild CT.
But please do not repeat the 6 times 55secs stick too often. All it can take, is a misshift/overrev to kill an engine in less than a cpl of seconds. Something that easily can happen with an unexperienced driver...under the stress of a timetrial.
Also the Spiel that autocross is easier on the car, than a drive to work ... is also a veeeery looooong stretch. People - just keep things in perspective.
If properly driven nevertheless the car should be able to handle plenty of autocrosses. In case of an EVO maybe about 2000-4000 miles worth of autoX.
I also want to raise just my own subjective feeling , that your very first post's intend, was only to warn the forum users, in respect to Mistubishi voiding warranties due to racing etc.
From the tone of your early messages it didn't seem to you were too upset upon having to pay for the repair.
AT least the focus ,in my opinion, seemed to be about the fact that they blackflagged you before bringing the car in etc.
ONLY after forums members suggested you to consider sueing your attitude appeared to change.
But again, these are just my own personal interpretations. As English not being my native language, I probably misinterpreted everything.
Again, best of luck with your quest. Certainly your post made Mistsubishi sell one car less. The MR I wanted buy.

Mike, thanks for your post. The money is not the most critical issue to me. It is the handling of the situation by Mitsu and what I believe to be their blatant policy of looking for any excuse possible to not cover warranty claims. My intent from the start though was to hold Mitsu accountable for their actions -- make people aware and pursue a claim against Mitsu.
Have fun with your new car.

Points the same, MSM said that it was funny how rumors and speculation fly, and I just thought that was comical because that is basically how this thread started...
