It would even be far less scientific than political polling (which I agree is not very scientific). The sample group would be far to small, it would have pre-established biases, and you would have a positive feedback problem where people that dont have problem wont respond. This is why website polls are a horrible way to determine anything. Only those that have an interest in the subject will respond...

This is true.

Perhaps polling isn't such a great idea. I hate statistics. Better to spend the time driving the car around the track.

I just hope that MSM_S2K and the others are able to come to a fair arrangement with Mitsubishi. Their stories make it difficult for me to recommend the EVO to others. Not that I would discourage people from looking at it. This is simply something that has to be taken in to account when buy a car.

oh yeah 28,000 miles: on third clutch. I was the one and only person to get one replaced under warranty. now i have an ACT. Need new rotors and pads. looking for aftermarket there as well. oh yeah my engine misfires above 65.....all the time. went in today and had the flash done. made it 3 miles from the dealership......chug <service engine soon> I put a post at one time telling people to IM me if they were having problems with their EVO......boy was that a mistake. Anyone know why im paying exactly 2X as much for all wheel drive and a tiny bit of extra HP when i could be driving a SRT-4? I've tried to stay loyal to Mitsubishi over the years. I have a 94 3000 GT that i beat the $#!T out of. 235,000 miles and ive had less problems with that then the EVO. So could i go back a year and a half ago and slap myself when i put the downpayment on the first EVO in michigan. YES. It's been a long day...sorry. back to looking for parts ^^

I know not everybody has the money to do this but, fight back. If you intentionaly abuse your car you may deserve what you get. But if I had a trans. or diff. go out and my warranty was denied because I had a intake or something I would have no hesitation paying for a lawyer to fight it.

hey man, the SRT-4 is a cool car, but it's made by chrysler. Chrysler and Mitsubishi make BAD cars together. DSM? Yeah. Fast shi.tbox. You think you have EVO problems? I will bet my next paycheck that the SRT-4 will be WAY worse when it comes to reliablity than the EVO. That being said, I want one....

Update: not a peep from anyone at Mitsu. No response from the national dispute settlement center, Janis Little or any of the other Mitsu people I've contacted.

I'd like to send a registered letter to the dispute settlement folks, but only address info I was able to get from Mitsu is a P.O. box ... which means no registered letter. The "excellent customer service" continues. I'd at least appreciate an acknowledgement from Mitsu that they received the letters.

Sounds like time to bring in the ambulance chasers. It seems that you have made an effort to settle this matter under their system but not gotten any response. I'm not sure which type of official to talk to (JP/DA/Judge/whatever) but it might be worthwhile to get in touch. They might be able to provide direction on what to do next.

Also, get in touch with the better business burue and some of the other consumer advocates out there. They should be able to help.

nos,

Good suggestion and I was just about to say the same thing. I had to call the state AG a couple years back concerning a purchase of some stock options and they were very helpful.

It's certainly another viable option and they have some pull. Companies, especially publicly-owned companies, do NOT want to run afoul of AG's, so having them in your corner is a definite asset.

Regards,
Joel

More lenient? That's not it at all. I can't speak for all mfrs, but Porsche _knows_ that a _lot_ of people will be auto-crossing their brand new cars, and they _encourage_ it. In fact, my local Porsche dealer has a free "autocross check-up" every Spring where you can get your Porsche, if it's still within the warranty timeframe, inspected top to bottom and prepped for auto-X by their mechanics. Hell, they even give out "authorized racing inspection" forms, which show everything they checked on your car, for you to give to the tech at the event. If that isn't outright manufacturer validation of your right to auto-cross the car, I don't know what is.

t's a shame that a company with a racing heritage as good as Mitsu's is would behave this way.

Mitsu/blood suckin people

I have a 03 evo 8, i have already had problems w/ mitsu and warranties.Im sure that almost everyone has heard or known someone w/ clutch and warranty issues. Today i went to talk to a Infiniti dealership. They are actually a smart corp. I told them about Mitsu saying that aftermarket mods, will void the warranty. The trick to this is if you have your mitsu dealership put the part or parts on the car. The warranty cannot be revoked. Something else not to listen to is how they say if something happenes to a modded evo. The consumer will have to prove that the mod did not cause the problem. oh contrar, the dealership will have to do the proving.Just a little FYI
