Don't you have to test drive it first isn't that a law? Or atleast thats what the dealership told me.
Hey cuban evo I seen you ride there. Real nice!!!! I bought my blue evo there, nice car but they sold me it without a cat and transfer case going. Good thing I put a cat on caus ethe Mitsu guru came and lifted the car. After 8 hours of waiting they ordering me a new TC. I'm happy now

I'm looking at buying an Evo 9 new from the sole Misubishi dealership (Al Habtoor Motors) in Dubai, UAE.
They only stock one model the GSR which costs approx. US$35,000.
My biggest concern is that they wont offer any kind of warranty, saying that Mitsubishi will not provide them with a warranty for this car model so they therefore cannot offer it to customers in the UAE (other models such as the pajero and standard lancer have 3 yr warranties).
So my question is when I eventually get the evo and drive it out of the showroom, in the unlikely event something goes wrong with it, where will i stand, will Mitsubishi HQ direct be able to replace the faulty part? Or should I not be worrying about the warranty in the first place? And why do you guys in the UK/US get at least 3 yr warranty?
Also, what colour shall I get bearing in mind it was 47 Celsius today - choice: Flame Red, Black, Electric Blue, Solar Yellow, Cool Silver & Frost White.

You are dealing with an issue that has hit many people elsewhere in the world. I got only one issue corrected by a Mitsu dealership in the US and now they will not touch the car. My advise is to learn how to turn the wrench yourself if you must have the Evo, otherwise live with the Pajero. I will be traveling through Dubai on September 6th and again on the 17th. If you have any questions or concerns, I'd be happy to chat with you about it as I make my travels through there. WOW, 47 degrees and coupled with the humidity there...the Evo will not be happy.

Look at it this way if you buy it without warranty, then you can modify the shiznit out of it and not have to worry about it getting voided. Although I must say, paying $35,000 and not getting warranty is s**t.
Lol - have you felt the body roll on those pajeros?
Anyway, I think there's quite a few around - from what the guy at the showroom told me, they had around 40 evo 9's in the first batch (which were all sold), they now have another 40 (which i'll hopefully buy from) and they should get one more batch in of 40 in the near future. So thats an eventual 120 Evo 9's and I believe they stocked Evo 8's as well. I dont think that quite compares to sales in UK/US tho!
The question is, when something goes wrong with a stock evo in UK/US does the dealer in the UK/US replace the part or do they send it back to Japan?
I dont really want to mod the evo for the first 10,000-20,000 kms and i've read on posts here that people have had blown turbo chargers and stuff like that while they're still breaking their stock evo in...

hi matti live in UAE and i drive Evo VII daily since 2004. mine is black color which i recomend u stay away from because of the dusty and hot weather. try the red or silver blue.
what i can tell u from my experience is that the evo is very relaiable car if you kept it standard (engine) which standard boost level and careful driving.
dont misunderstand carefull driving (i do a full season of autocross in Dubai each year)
i know that the warranty is a privillage but if its me i will go without.
i know many friends in uae who have Evos and we are even tring to form a club in the near future.
i know some workshops which offer good service for the Evos.
if u need any help in getting service or u like to do meet other drivers please email me.
Cheers

the only difference between having a warranty and not is having to pay for repairs. If you can pay for those kinds of repairs down the line at some reputable shop, go ahead and get the Evo! If not, it would be pretty risky buying the Evo..
