Don't buy the Evo. Get a STI if they offer warranty.

There was another guy here on the forums who was not living in the US or England (think it was Saudi Arabia dont quote me on that though) who bought a brand new evo 9 from the local dealership and his turbo went out and he was replacing it himself due to the fact that the dealership didnt have the personel with experience on the Evos, so they didnt offer a warranty either. So if they dont offer a warranty with it that may be the reason. Im an auto tech student and the Evos can be a pain in the *** to work on, so that may be something to take into consideration as to why they may not offer a warranty.

Labor should be cheap in Dubai (I'm guessing) so buy the Evo. I'm from Turkey and the Evo 9 costs around $90K US so if anyone could afford to buy it, they can afford to mod and get it fixed. Obviously the labor is so cheap that you can have someone build you a UICP, LICP, and full TBE for a couple of hundred dollars and install it... Hell, clutch install will cost you a measly $50. Now getting the parts... Thats a different issue. Just my $.02...

The only reason i see for you not getting a warranty with the car would be the extreme temps you experience there...i mean 47 degrees celuis, that's like 117 fahrenheit...that is definitely hot. although it seems odd because here in the u.s. there are states that get just as hot, and you can still buy an evo with a warranty. I got a 10 year warranty ( which is BS anyway ), and i live in puerto rico where its hot all year round, although not as hot as dubai.

guys...
*Mechanical labor is cheap as A#S here...evos are reliable...i have been around evos ever since the EVO VI TME...and the only evos that i have seen break are the ones with BAD ABUSIVE DRIVERS...

Aryder...true that the have sold 40 evos..but did you ask to whome they have sold them...?
25 of them went to Qatar for Rally Use...anyways..back to the sucject...
buy the evo if you like the evo...but if you like warranty...buy something else..i bought my evo 9 in may..and have been driving it daily since then...during the day..when its hot..i avoid boosting...otherwise..i am always driving spiritly..
the car is just so much fun to drive...it puts a smile on my face everytime i get in it..

common Aryder...you should know better...evos are rarer than ferraris here..

goodluck..pm me if you have any questions

respect,
Moose

I bought my 06 ix with all the warranty issues in mind..

There are plenty of garages around that work on evo's
1000 dunes garage (sam performance) is one of them just near emirates mall...
The reason they dont offer warranty is because people increse the boost ,blow the engine, put it back to stock and claim warranty... in order to avoid this they rejected the waranty.
Go for it they are awesome rides thats my evo 9 in the pic

Most every ignorant blissful bonehead (self included) who bought an Evo, tossed the warranty once they happily modified their cars. Kind of a monument to what's right and just,... a rolling monument to "The Man" (a.k.a. anyone you disagree with). I'd go for white or silver to reflect all that heat. Also shade your car as I suspect your CF wing would shed its clearcoat quickly.

Winter in DXB

For those who think Dubai is constantly a hot hell hole, thats not the case

The winters get colder here, we reach 18 degrees sometimes lower...(at night)
When you reach the desert areas (with fat 3 lane highways and insanely huge roundabouts) it gets even colder perfect for races and really seeing what the evo is capable of in colder weathers.

How can they get away with 35k price and no warranty? If I bought one I would want some relief on the "out the door" price if no warranty is not included.

Exclamation

Thanks for all your comments.

I'm not going to even consider an STi - I dont think the dealer sells them here either.

I do have the money to pay for repairs but it doesnt mean I will want to pay for an expensive repair that would be covered by warranty in other countries. Surely people accross the world buy an evo, soup it up, blow the engine and then try and put it back to stock to claim warranty - dubai cant be an exception to that?

So theoretically, if I buy a new stock evo tomorrow drive it out the showroom and something serious goes wrong with it, through a manufacture defect. Where will I stand, will mitsubishi (Al Habtoor) in Dubai want anything to do with me and/or will I be able to contact Mitsubishi in Japan direct?

I know its murphy's law i'm going to be so concerned about warranty, end up buying the evo anyway and then be the 99% of buyers who encounter a serious problem with a stock evo in the first few thousans kms.
