sorry to hear that.

My evo go thru a lot of oil too. I just make sure I keep topping it and check it a couple times a month or more depending on how many miles i put on, how hard i drive, etc. Your situation sucks cuz it honestly can happen to anyone. 7 months is a pretty long time for a car to go without an oil change even if not driven that much.

It happened to me once too though when the car was pretty new that i happen to check the oil and there was hardly anything in there. It took over 2 Quarts of oil. I think it just depends on luck if the motor burns thru oil or not. I broke in the car according to Mitsu specs but i still go thru quite a bit of oil.

I would suggest shopping around for a used motor off a junk EVO. Perhaps get the motor built if you plan on tracking the car.

good luck

so even if you reflash the ecu back to stock, mitsubishi would still be able to tell you had a reflash before and void your warranty?? On the 05's

I don't know about that one. The only way they would be able to tell is, like the guy said earlier, was if they had a reason to check your ecu. How likely would that be. I have an '05 and decided the performance gain was worth that risk. I don't have any other mods, besides a fuel pump, so maybe they wouldn't be so quick to check either. I also saw a little bit better gas mileage too.

So how did the flash affect the performance vs. stock? I was thinking of doing the same on my stock '05.

The flash is SO worth it, Just get it done. Your engine will run smoother, and it will pull hard all the way to 7400 rpm.

LISTEN, your warrent isn't voided unless it causes a problem... so if u get a flash and ur computer fails no warrenty, if u get a flash and ur passenger wheel studs break, ur wheel flies off, mitsu will cover it.

I got Al's custom tune on the dyno and all I have is a Walbro 255 fuel pump and my base stock was 240 whp; after the flash, 270 whp & 280 torque. For the money, it's hard to beat.

warranty

i need to have some warranty work done to my car, however i'm sitting here with a couple bolt ons (bov, intake, ic pipes, exhaust) and i'm wondering which, if not all, will boid warranty. Any experiences? I've heard both that none of that would void it and i've heard any of it will void it.

It all depends on your dealership. The bov and intake, is pretty much useless without a tune, and can actually hurt your car. If the problem is related to your mods mitsu will void your warranty in an instant, if the mods are not really involved in the warranty work that will be done, the dealership will still try to blame it on the mods. Different dealerships will have different opinions.

the warranty work is on the transmission and the dealership has recongnised it prior to the mods, so i'd think they should still do the work even with the mods

mitsu will find any reason to void your warranty. imo swap out your parts back to stcok. it might be a pain but is worth it if you want to keep your warranty.
