Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
Tempe, Arizona
They even offered to replace my clutch free of charge with a high performance one when they did my syncros but stock clutch was still good and didn't have $500 to spend at the same.
Edit: I didn't even know about the heater/ac knob problem until the service rep told me "oh, we gotta fix this for you, it's under warranty so no worries"
Thats why I been going there for regular oil changes even tho I can easily do it on my own and hooking him up with coupons from where I work.
To build a good relationship I guess.

Find out 1st who is the extended warranty company. A lot of times this is an aftermarket warranty & even if it is under Mitsu name it might be administerred by an aftermarket company which sometime sends out an inspector to inspect your car. Even if the dealer is cool about your mods but if the extended warranty company finds out about the mods you will have a problem.
warranty information
I have taken my EVO to the dealership because my 1st and 2nd synchos went out. I have but a 2 stage boost controller and max the turbo out and I have also raced my car a couple times on auto cross.I just dont understand why mitsubishi won't cover stuff when they fully covered my tranny and my input shaft even i DID abuse the car! My advice if you were to autocross your car registered under a different type of car!Thats how I did it, it is sad to see alot of people struggling to get warranty work done when it was easy for me and they replaced everything no questions ask!
You might be right! But I have notice alot of people are not very smart when they take in for service. I have modded this EVO but they have not said anything about it! I did ask the dealer before I did the mod if it would void my warranty and he said no! As long as you dont touch the block or the turbo they will not void.....but he said you can modify it with extra stuff like manual boost controller etc...reflash ecu etc....
Auto-X isn't abusive to the car, its the driver. If I have to rank powertrain abuse on a car it would be in the following order:
1. Drag (only because of the repeated shock to the tranny on launch)
2. Road Racing
3. Auto-X
If driven properly road racing isn't that abusive to the car, you just have to keep the shifts smooth. The things that you'll wear out fast are brakes. Auto-X will hardly even wear out the brakes.
I'm sure a lot of people with legit warranty issues, who didn't get it covered or had a hard time getting it covered will not be happy hearing about this. Especially when you know you abused your car ....

Blown Motor NOT Under Warranty
Got a question for everyone here, hopefully nobody will have a similar problem. I bought one of the first Evos waaay back in March 2003. I've tracked it a whole bunch -Infineon, Laguna, BW, T-Hill, W-Springs- This car has always been strong on me, and I've always treated it well with routine oil changes, -after every event with synthetic- spark plugs, usual maintenence. Also, it's never been modified.
Recently however I was just up in the mountains with a few buddies. The car drove great for about two hours at high RPM, and we headed back to the city. I drove leisurely on the freeway back with no problems. Then of course I had to race my buddy around a couple of turns. Just then, at around 6,000rpm, the motor blows with some rod knock. No CEL and no Oil Pressure Light, no lights at all. I take it to my local Mitsubishi dealer, and they tell me that there's no oil on the dipstick. Then they drain it, and discover about 1.5 quarts left. They refuse warranty, and now I'm right in the middle of a claim. I have 23k miles on it.
I'm figuring that there's either a leak somewhere and I'm burning oil slowly, since I haven't done a change since I had surgery back seven months ago. -One track event and about 500-600 miles +mountains after the change- Either that or the local
guy who I don't know -as opposed to my regular very helpful guy who wasn't there that day- just drained my oil in an attempt to void my claim, which I sincerely hope isn't the case.
My question is two-fold: One- has anyone ever burnt oil that quickly? Two- does anyone think it's possible to drive hard for two hours in the mountains with only 1.5 quarts of synthetic oil in the car? I'm by no means a noob to cars, and have done plenty of work in the past including head gasket swaps and such, but I'd love to get some opinions on this one. Thanks guys.

You know all those articles about Michael Miller/MSM_S2K and voided Mitsu warranties? Yeah... my car... yeah... same thing only the car just had under 3000 miles on it... don't make the mistake of letting Mitsu sell you a new engine though, shop around. (When I say same thing, I'm 100% serious, no CEL, no oil light, nothing... just all of a sudden, knock knock knock said the little 4g63)
