The new clutch didnt fix the problem and I still have that noise at 15k. The district parts and service manager (rep), will not perform any warranty work on my car anymore. I have since called corporate and will be speaking with the regional parts and service manager to try and get this resolved. If all of this fails, I'm heading to small claims. Good luck with the warranty work.
That is unbelievable! I WILL NEVER buy another Mitsu after all of this - love my car but it's not worth the headaches

best to buy them when they are used with 50k miles...then you don't expect a warranty anyway, LOL

No kidding. At least if it were used, my payments would be much less and the car would be a monster. If the car wasnt so much fun to drive and I wasn't in love with it, there'd be an '05 TSX or something similar in the driveway. We'll see where I end up at the end of this.

Screw that, I would tell them you want your old transfer case back that they mis-diagnosed. There was nothing wrong with that one and if they wont give you a new one under warranty, they cant steal your good working one and give you a faulty one. Fight it, tell them your car was fine when it came in and now they broke it, so they need to fix it.

The only issue with buying them used is you have no idea on how much the car has been abused, what has been replaced, if it was done right or half assed, and now you definately get to pay for anything else that is going to break.

The other side of that coin is most of the sh*t that is going to break probably has already and may have been replaced with higher quality aftermarket parts by someone who knows what they are doing.

It's a roll of the dice, much like warranty work.

This line right here says it all for me. The dealer replaced a perfectly working TC with a defective one. They should be obligated to fix what they broke, regardless of whether or not you have an aftermarket clutch.

Give 'em hell son! lol

I CAN ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE. I brought my 2005 evo into service with 7k on it because i had a slight 5th gear grind. car had TBE, front mount, fuel pump, boost controller and flash but stock clutch. ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS 5TH GEAR GRINDING AT HIGH RPM'S, REST OF TRANNY WAS 100% FLAWLESS!! THE GUY THERE SAID "HEY IF YOU WANT WE'LL THROW IN A CLUTCH FOR YA TOO, SO BRING IT BY" SO i SAY OK THANKS

1st trip home after 1st rebuild, when i get car will not go into 3rd no matter what. and the shifter moves in 1st as I accelerate, but same deal as you, the service center was closed so I had to come back

2nd trip home after 2nd rebuild, every gear is hard to get into, so again its too late, bring it back next day

3rd trip home after 3rd rebuild, gears are still tough, but by this point i just wanna drive it, shifter still moving in 1st by 2 inches as I accelerate in 1st gear. I eventually bring it back a week later

4th trip home after 4th rebuild, CAR STILL DOESNT GO INTO GEAR RIGHT, but they convince me to keep the car until something goes wrong. On st patty's day i'm driving out to a bar and I hear this loud bag of rocks, excuse me my tranny, under my car. i bring it there at 12:00am and bring the keys back the next morning. they take it apart and tell me they left a retaining clip off of a shaft by accident, but they arent going to cover it becaus emy car is modded.

THROUGH THIS WHOLE THING I DIDNT UPGRADE ANYTHING EXCEPT THE CLUTCH WHICH THEY OFFERED. AND BETWEEN EACH TRIP I DROVE THE CAR MAYBE 30-50 MILES, MOST OF WHICH BACK AND FORTH TO THEM.

SO i pick up my car with a flatbed with my tanny in pieces in a big cardboard box and buy a new tranny. get that put in and drive about 300 miles only to hear this whining sound. bring it back to my mechanic thinking it the tranny and O WHAT DO YOU KNOW, MY T-CASE IS BLOWN. THE GOD DAMN DEALER DIDNT BLEED MY T-CASE WHEN THEY DID MY CLUTCH SO THEY ***IN BLEW THAT TOO. 2000$ LATER I BOUGHT A TRE MODDED 2004 T-CASE AND LOST MY ACD!!!

SO just for a slight 5th gear grind my total was:

new tranny-1400$
new act clutch (dealer broke my Pressure plate so i bought a whole new one)-425$
install of these-400$ (my mechanic hooekd me up)

new t-case when i found out mine was blown-2000$
install of this-400$

TOTAL-ROUGHLY 4600$ BECAUSE OF THE DEALER. i WISH I NEVER BROUGHT IT THERE AND KEPT THE 5TH GEAR GRIND!!!

I believe the dealer has to find that your mod caused whatever problem you bring it in for, some court case decided that I think.

I'm planning on riding that warranty out (for whatever that's worth). Only mods will be some Graco car seats

Edit: Magnuson Moss warranty act is what the guy above is referring to

I'm with that I paid an extra 2k for the extended warranty I didn't realize it was so easy to void
