Exclamation Attack of the warranty snatchers

This year at NOPI nationals I personally observerd members of mitsubishi america walking around to every mitsu at the show writing down vin and tag numbers to flag warrantys for mods done to the cars,,can anyone tell me why they would be so stupid as to do that ?I mean come on that is free advertisement for them and they want to say they are judges and screw people out of their rights?does mitsubishi want to go out of bussiness?cause i never saw such at a show before so if you race or show cover your vins and make a show tag cause they might creep your warranty ALSO anyone in the ATL area dont let DON JACKSON MITSUBISHI touch your car they will find any reason to not do warranty work,my xp with them I wont let them install floor mats in my car

If you mod the heck out of the car and that directly causes a failure of a warranted part then the owner should buck up and pay for it.

Some, NOT all, of the warranty nightmares we read about are caused by the driver. I can understand the need to scrutinize the mods but dont agree with the method of blatantly writing down vins on anything parked.

I was at a car show here. Just a basic show, nothing fancy. There was a mitsubishi guy coming around to cars doing the same thing. Later that week I got a call saying my warranty had been taken away. Just because I entered my car in a show. No racing. Car was stock.

2 days later up comes my uncle from KC who's a damn good lawyer. *****ed the hell out of them, got my warranty back, and got the guy fired. Aparently he was off duty and doing that for his own pleasure.

So whenever i'm at shows now, I cover up my vin, and when I get there, I put on some fake plates.

All automakers do it for the most part, the financially belegaured Mitsubishi Motors doing it is no surprise. Its a major reason I don't auto-x, run at the strip.

A copy of the Law suit need to be sent to every Mitsubishi dealership. There should be a class action law suit against that.

When ever i go to the strip i pull my plates and cover my vin.

You never know when someone can be out marking cars, once they have your plate and vin they can find out where you live.... then good bye car.

I might be paranoid but you never know how bad someone might want a 10-11 sec car.

If I ever found someone from Mitsubishi looking over my car without my permission when I wasn't on their property, I'd hand the guy his *** without a second thought. And I'm a pacifist. They want to pull that sh*t, they can move to China.

this doesnt surprise me at all. a buddy of mine with an sti had the same thing happen butat the time i think subie was giving out memberships for SCCA and then voiding the warranties of people who showed up or something ridiculous like that, so i wouldnt put it past mitsu to do that either. cover your plates and vins

i had a guy from Mits asking me about my car at the show...asked me what mods I had done and what shows I had won my trophies at...he didnt have any paperwork with him to write anything down

i'm a strong believer in if you mod, then you should face the consequences of part failure that your modding causes...so i didnt mind it...if they are voiding stock cars, then thats another story

BS, taking down car VINs for his own pleasure and then report it to Mitsubishi!? They are just saying that to cover Mitsubishi's ***.

Funny you mention that, sine I got a free SCCA subscription and memebership when I got my STI. They want you to buy the car because of it's road course performance, but if you use it for what it's for they void your warranty.
