Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
Be careful...
For those of you who are being told what will and will not void your warranty, get it in writing. If you have a problem later on and your only alibi is "well so and so said it wasn't a problem", you will get nowhere.

Exactly what I have been trying to say .... If you don't want to pay, don't mod your car. Find out from your DSM what can be done to the car without voiding any of your warranties, get it in writing if you can. Using the excuse that, "Oh well these cars a built to handle much more power and that people in other countries have been running their car for so long with so and so mod" does not cut it ....
People need to be a little more accoutable for their own actions ...
I will update with new info after I get a chance to talk to the new DSM for our area ...

need help on warranty/ mods
ok i just bought a 2006 Evolution 9... its gorgeous... but i was first told i can go through ralli art to do mods to it and then today i called to order some parts and they sed thats not true... but another place told me i can do minor things without voiding the warranty such as intake exhaust and stiff like that... does any1 know anything about modding the car without voiding my warranty
Ralliart North America is being created, but I don't think it has started yet.
There is no set rule by Mitsu on what mods you can and can't do. It mostly depends on the dealership, so you have to find out by asking them. Generally, you can get away with a drop-in filter (no, not an intake) and a cat-back exhaust, but that's all. However, some places will let you get away with full exhaust, mbc, tune, intake, cams, while others will try to void your warranty even if you change out the head unit.
Lastly, if you would have even attempted to search for just 2 minutes, you would have found tons of threads explaining this.

If I were you, I'd find a very leniant dealership in your area and find out what their stance is on mods. Then, mod your car based on what they allow, and you will probably be safe with your warranty. For example, I have heard many people in my area getting by with some light engine mods at San Rafael Mitsubishi.

The first thing that I would do, is to drive the car for awhile in order to get use to it. You may find out that you don't want to do any mods or just a few. After that I would decide on a mod goal, concept, and style that best suites my needs. I would then find the products and manufactors that fit me and my mod requirements. I would save up CYA funds, just in case something went wrong, and I could get it fixed without cheaping out. Example, I had a bolt go through my tire when my car had only 1500 miles on it. It cost me $300.00 to replace the tire. Since I had a CYA fund, I didn't have to stress about getting it replaced. This car requires money, at some point in time you are going to have to spend some money, abeit tires, wheels, etc. Have fun and enjoy the car, I do mine. I get a great deal of enjoy just seeing it in the garage. One last thing, the best "mod" that I have done is to buy a portercable 7424 polisher.
hope this helps.

Find a dealer that you like and trust. Ask them what they will allow and make sure that they will work on the car without problems. The last thing you want to do is mod the crap out of your new car and then get bent because MITSU doesn't sponsor your racing hobby.
