No its not the inter shaft splines''' there Called the half Shafts, i did the Job mySelf, It only took 3hr 52 mins, i've changed somewhere around 35-40 clutchs in dsm's and other vehicles.... The halfShafts only go in one way and out one way, not possible to overlap anything...... If you read from the beginning of the thread you'll see i had this problem before i ever changed the clutch and flywheel,, its didnt get any better or worst before or after, and there is not tool you can buy to take the halfshafts out, you make your own, there is a 10mm threaded hole in the ends of the half shafts , you thread a Long bolt in and use a slide hammer towards youself and they pop right out.....

I don't understand what's got you all upset. You have mods that are designed to increase power. They are letting you know up front you will be responsible for labor if it is not covered. This is not worthy of a class action lawsuit.
I totally agree - On both points.

Your brother probably had a very strong case there if he could prove that they had put the wrong lubricant in the transfer case. But it does not sound like you have a case at this point. You might have been slightly better off had you let the dealer inspect the problem prior to putting the new aftermarket clutch in...

I understand your pain, really.
You see if a car comes to my dealer with tranny problems, and its got an after market cooler, and clutch in it, I can refuse to fix it.
How do I know its not been raced, or beat on? VW's states that if a car comes into the shop with problems......... lets say a bad wheel bearing, and the car has aftermarket wheels on it, or suspention, we are REQUIRED by VW to report the car, and its modifications. They will then let us know if the part or parts will be covered, not us. Sounds like Mitsu is the same way.
I have to agree with what was said before, put the stock parts back on the car before you go in for any kind of service, even an oil change (if you go to dealer). It may save you alot of hassle down the road.
My dealer seems to be really cool, I know when my clutch goes out I will have the head tec Mike replace it for me (not that I can't do it), cause it will be aftermarket. That way they can't say it was something I did wrong.
I was also told that mods are ok as long as you keep the stock DP, and cat. converter on it I guess we will see with time.
Everytime it goes in it will be stock.... you have my personal garentee
I have a box up in my garage with ALL the stock parts and BOLTS just in case.

I would see if people wanna do this countrywide, not only stateside(pa). I don;t have anything wrong with my VIII and don't have mods but heard even stock car warrantys are getting voided. I got screwed by honda on my warranty because of mods I had on my civic so I say go for it and stick it in mitsus ***. Best of luck.

That is nonsense in my experience. Honda is even worse with honoring warranties. I used to have an 00 Honda Prelude that I bought new from my local Honda dealer. At around 25,000mi, the charging system failed. The alternator had gone bad. I take it to the dealer. The service dept calls me up and says that they need to replace the alternator, but they are not going to cover it under warranty. Why? Because my car had an aftermarket header. Their reasoning? The aftermarket header was making the engine bay too hot. I had to argue with the service manager for like 20 minutes. He calls me back and says, "Well I talked to the regional service rep, and he says we can replace it once, but if it fails again, we're not covering it again."

i have an 05 with 100,000 mile warranty and a decent dealer that knows what they are doing.

So here is my choice

Stock - 0 risk
Modify(even a flippin aftermarket airfilter) - some risk

so im just going to leave mine alone, take care of it, and drive the crap out of it.

If i want to mod one to the max, id buy a used 03 and quit wasting time trying to sue Mitsu who aint got any money anyway!!!!!

No wonder the X is going to be expensive and a luxury car... Mitsu is tired of getting sued.

aren't all Evo TO bearings noisy? mine has 2000 miles, and it rattles loudly when idling out of gear (clutch not depressed).

Mine does too, only 3k miles. I thought all the evos TO bearings made some noticible noise.

That suxs man....But the problem is the aftermarket clutch? they wont warranty with that in the car. No matter how much legal help you have? Its bull but its just life....Your better off just going to Shep and having the tranny and TC rebuild, its better than a stock replacement and atleast you know you are getting a quality build that will be stronger than stock. Unfortunetly Mitsubishi has the right to void a warranty on an unapproved part. It def. suxs and i hope everything works out for you. Im in the same boat as Mr. Selleck, I went to Medina to buy my evo because they are a mod friendly dealership to a certain extent....Im sure even they wont warranty a tranny or TC problem with an aftermarket clutch installed, but I could be wrong?. But I know they will warranty bolt-on mods (to an extent) since they do sell the BR330 and BR350.

My suggestion is to call Medina Mitsu.'s service dept. and ask what they think, never hurts to get another opinion. Just tell them you know they warranty the buschur modified evos and if they think your tranny could be warrantied with they clutch type you have. Always worth a shot and cheaper than legal fees?

Good Luck!

No When i first called the dealer and told them about the clutch,, he told the rep and they asked what kinda of clutch it was i told them ,, 20min later he said that will be no problem,
bring it in, but he asked me if there were any other modifications done to the car, I told him about the intercooler, and he said, "i better call the rep back to make sure...." so he calls me back and said the rep wants the last 8#s of my vin so he can void the drivetrain warranty out..... The dealer told me to change the clutch and the vibration would probly go away, the rep knew about that also thats why they had no problem with it...

How about you make it a national (all of US) class-action?
