Tell them to get you the part, find a painter yourself, and install it yourself. Maybe $100.

Thats a pretty good deal.. Usually the stock wing go for around $1500.. I would take it just make sure it's the 8 full CF not the 9 which is hollow, if that really matters to you.

Went to the dealership for rear spoiler discoloration and peeling.
They took pics and sent to distr. rep.
They called me back and said, your warranty expired in Sept. But they would pay for the part, if i paid the installation labor and painting cost.
That would total around $300 by the sound of it. They would not just give me the part, to paint and install myself.
Its obvious that this didn't just happen in the last couple weeks, this has been progressing for about 4 months or more.

Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks
just fixed the old one, apply multiple layers of clear coat on it, I live in san jose area and local body shop charge me aroun $170-$200 for it

Those were my thoughts, but no-go. He said he could only offer that deal if they do the install.
I thought you could get them already painted, or that it could be disassembled. But they said no.

And, the send it out to get painted. This shop doesn't have an onsite bodyshop.

Go buy some:
300 grit, 600 grit, 1200 grit, and 2000 grit
water bottle (to keep water on the wing while you sand)

Start with the 300 to get all of the clear off.

Then sand it all with each level of grit above, working your way up to the 2000 grit.

Once you have done all that take it to a local body shop and have them re-clear with the most uv protectant clear they got.

May cost less than $100 total.

It will take about 8 hrs to complete the sanding.

So what they are saying is that the warranty isnt transferable to a new owner?? Or why would it be no good with 12k miles?

Sombody is bs ing you, I have an 03 with 31,000 on it and they just replaced mine free of charge. They painted and installed it there at the shop and sent me on my way. It took about a month for it to come in but it's on now. Mitsu sent out a notice to all authorized stealerships about a manufacturing problem on these spoilers. They should be treating it like a recall. They seem to be scrwwing you, dont put up for it.

Has to do with the "in-service" date.
They said the warranty expired Mid-September 06. Just my luck.

I guess they could be dicks and say no warranty, no fixy. But at least they made some give. I'll probably go through with it, and then repair the old one also.

thanks

I doubt that they'll let you keep the old one. Still not a bad deal for a new one if $300 or less is what it'll cost you. Your warranty has expired and it's only cosmetic so they do not have to replace it. Got mine replaced also but the paint could have been a little better, there is a little "Blue By You" showing around the CF. It's sitting in a closet. Long story. Anyway, go for it. It'll be a brand new wing. Fix it the next time if you have to.

when u go to the dealer just replace the bov so it doesnt look suspicious. however, the headunit ur fine. actually both wont void but to be safe just switch it up when u go.

Depends on the dealer. It shouldn't but who knows. Someone on here had the engine warranty voided from a TT.
