Yes it is very obvious. If your calipers are looking whiteish then you'll notice. It seems to only happen on VIII's. I have yet to hear of it happening on a IX. Just try not to get any brake fluid on your calipers when bleeding them if possible. Do a search on here and you should be able to find plenty of pictures.

i flushed my lines with Super Blue a few days ago and some of the old fluid did get on the calipers...but very little and i wiped them all down anyway....and so far no peeling...BTW i have a IX

I believe your's won't be covered since you are out of the warranty period. Unless, you have documented proof that it was peeling before your warranty ended. Meaning, you try claiming warranty at the dealership before but they denied it.

Warranty

Wow. You're lucky to have such a good, warranty abiding dealer. My dealership tried to restrict my warranty claiming my XEDE caused my starter to fail. They tried to charge me $1,100.00 for a new starter and labor. I got a letter from my mechanic and a phone call from Shiv stating the XEDE didn't cause damage to the starter, but Mitsubishi didn't care. I called the BBB and the Mitsubish USA representative offered to make a deal with me that included blacklisting by vin number based on the restriction of my starter.

Dealer told me I could do a couple things.. Needless tosay. No engine mods at the time. Car had a K&N airfilter. Took it in for a 5th gear grind. Void due to suspenion mods.

Had it out with the service manager. He gave me the distric reps number. She wouldn't even speak to me. He then called me and refered me to Mistu of ameica. And the little ****head put in that my car had a carbon carbon clutch, standalone, tbe, injectors, fmic and turbo upgrade. They wouldn't give me time of day.

I honestly would like to fight him.

Thats why you need access to a lawyer, cuts thru all that crap right away. If something I do causes a prpblem, I'll have to deal with it, but, if it fails and is not a direct fault or cause of the moddification, then they have to stand behind it.

1st problem was a bad wobble shaft modulator, then I broke my canuuten valve when my muffler bearing spun, I hate it when that happens!!! LOL

Just kidding!
My 1st issue was related to a small hole in a metal oil line, causing an oil leak. They replaced it under warranty (rental car included!).
2nd issue was a a bad starter. It would work occasionally not start, they offered me a rental for all 5 days, but I only used it for one(2 days to get it,2day weekend,1 day install) as I have other cars. I saved them 4 days rental and try to be very respectfull when dealing with anyone, especially my dealer.

FYI...

I have a 2005 RS (manufactured in Dec-04) that has one peeling caliper. It started at 5k miles and now with 13k miles, half the caliper is missing its clearcoat.

I read somewhere that acid based wheel cleaner might be the culprit, but in my case that is impossible since I only wash my car at home and use non-toxic products

Had all 4 calipers replaced last month by Mitsu/Brembo. They do look different (brighter/shinier!) than the one's on my '03.

Can you post your warranty repair bill. And what is brembo's number and who did you speak with at brembo . That way we can all get this taken care of with no problems .

What do the powder coated replacement ones look like? Are they even red?
