Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
So, just bought my 06 gg mr and I was under the impression that I'd have 100k for the 'warranty' that I've read so much about. So, I call Mitsu and they say I only have 60k because I am the second owner. Anyone else seen this, any recourse if I am trying to stay stock? This might push me closer to tuning sooner though, so no one rush to provide help.
Also, is there a list of dealerships that might be mod friendly...or not?
Thanks

I have my warrenty red-flagged. I brought the car to Freehold Mitsu for tranny issues, paint chipping, seats falling apart. The car had 1,000 miles on it. It had, still has zero mods. It is 100% stock. Even stock air-filter.
I told them my clutch smell was excess. My tranny does not feel as smooth as it should be and sometimes 2nd gear isn't there.
I went for a ride with the tech because I am **** over who drives my baby. For the 4-5miles we drove he didn't wear his seatbelt. NJ state law. Nor did he "feel" the notchyness. I asked him to shift at lower rpms, not 4-5k! He shifted at 3500 and told me it was fine.
They than went and checked all my fluids and looked over the car.
So after all that I talked to the service rep. He told me the tires had excess wear and the clutch was worn too. I looked at him puzzled. He than told me straight up that I was doing AWD burnouts and driving aggressivly on the street. (I have zero points and no speeding tickets in my life, thats the only credit I can give you that I don't do dumb stuff on the road.) He asked me if I was racing on the road, I said no. It didn't matter. The douche bag red-flaged my car. If any work is to be done on my car it must be approved by Mitsu HQ.
So my car is now stained. The record states I was doing AWD burnouts with a 100% stock car. Along with other stuff that makes me very hateful of Freehold Mitsu.
This kind of treatment from a tech who drives a super-moded evo9 and the rep who's got a 3000gt.
My suggestion to anyone reading this.. Don't go to the dealer unless something breaks. Than take the mods off, put new tires on. Wash/Wax it. And have your grandmother bring it in saying its her car.
They know people beat these cars. They prey on it. When you're under 30 and drive one, it's like they pre-void it for you!
I'll never bring my car in for service to any dealer. If major things fail than it's time for an upgrade.
As for the OP. Yea, read your warranty book. Any kind of racing voids your warranty. So even if you were straight with them it doesn't matter much as the fine print>words.
So, Lie to your dealers. They'll lie to you. Why not return the favor?

Note to all. Evo's are disposable. Buy it, mod it. sell it. I'm on my second one now and the difference between stock and this one modded to high hell for warranty issues is 0. You can get bulbs and stuff like that fixed. Powertrain.... good luck. Upgrade it anyways the stock stuff is junk.
Dealer Tech
Mitsubishi is voiding motor and drive train warranties including transmission for any cars that participate in an Sports Car of America (SCCA) event or any other timed event.
It seems that Mitsubishi has set up an automatic web search that looks for registration and results information for any Mitsubishi. They then capture the race results information, match it to vehicle purchase and service records and proactively put the car on "warranty restriction". Those of you with new cars, may want to not list the actual car make or use a screen name.
I bought this car for my son about 2 months ago. The voiding of the motor and drive train warranty is especially puzzling to me as I was completely open with the dealer that sold the car to me, that I was going to allow my son to participate in SCCA events -- even invited the sales person and his manager to come for a ride along. Was the dealer's response to tell me that this would void the warranty on the new car? Nope. His response was "...what a cool way to keep your son from getting in trouble on the streets."
Sure would have appreciated knowing that parking lots and cones would void the warranty on the Evo. I guess although the car is "race inspired", Mitsubishi considers chasing cones at 25 to 60 mph in parking lot to be too much for their "embodying everything a performance enthusiast looks for in a car" model.

I have a crappy story about mitsubishi and their warranty policy. So I have had my car for about 2 years now. Of course I lightly modded it right off the bat and they something happened to my tranny...go figure... and i took it in to get warrantied. They told me my warranty was voided and that i could get it reinstated if i took the performance parts off and they inspected it. I stripped it down in the parking lot of the dealership and they gave me a signed document that my warranty had been reinstated. this is after i bought a brand new tranny that was part of the deal. Either way this year i took it in to get the cat warrantied as it had gone bad and they told me that i had no warranty and that they werent going to honor the document that i had because the man who gave it to me had been terminated since the time of reinstatement. if that isnt shady i dont know what is. any other people experience anything like this?
boost controller, intake, tbe, bov, and turbo timer. they said that once all was removed then the warranty would be reinstated..... doesnt make since that i have a signed document saying that it was reinstated but that mitsu wont honor it.
Well I took mine to a Mitsu dealer to have a couple small things looked at. The D bag that own the car before me didnt have a clue. He put stock air filter back on without any of the hardware and it was just hanging and it has 18 rims on it now and there was a problem with some inner fender lining rubbing because previous owner didnt put it back together right. So the dealer I took it too told me nothing I wanted fixed would be covered under warranty. First he said stock airbox had been tapered with then he said since those are not factory wheels they will not void anything in the wheel well including suspension.
Since I just purchased the veh from a lexus dealer in my area, took it back to them and basically told them the things I wanted fixed and it turned out the used car manager was previous manager and same mitsu dealer. Well stuff all got fixed, but for a moment I was out to dry as far as warranty. The tech also told me if the car has a aftermarket exhaust or CAI or SRI, it would void the powertrain warranty so beware!
