Warranty Issues <Mega Merge>
That's very unlikely. I can only imagine the # of hateful threads we'll see if people start buying into this.
Not only is it unlikely that they'll just pay for ANYTHING that brakes no matter what, but they will also charge higher base rates knowing the car is modded I bet.

+1 if something sounds to good to be true it probably is
I have been selling extended car warranties for 4 years (thats all I do). Our Warranties are about $3000. The dealers charge about $100 and hour.......how are they going to cover the car for 35$ a year? Sales people will say just about anything to get a sale....yes Im guilty. They MIGHT cover the powertrain...but thats a long shot.

Can someone else confirm this or was I hearing things?
the main reason I called them was to ask if I increase the value of my vehicle by adding and upgrading parts will this be covered if my vehicle gets stolen or wrecked, she said yes as long as I kept the receipts to show proof, (she also mentioned to take pictures off the record) I remembered back in January of 2005 I was charged an extra $35.00 every 6 months or every 12 months more for a extended warranty that covers your car like a dealer warranty, anyway I held off modding because I liked my MR the way it is, now I’m looking for more performance and said to myself what if something happens after I spend over 10g's? what if it gets stolen or wrecked?, so I remembered about that Geico extended warranty thing and called them this afternoon, I mentioned that I will be increasing the value of my car with modifications, then I asked what if my Turbo explodes because of the mod? she said quote "you just pay $250.00 for the deductible and they will pay the rest.
if this is true then there will be nothing stopping me, I WILL BE INVINCIBLE.
By the way now that I think of it she mentioned the words SHOW CAR a couple times, like if I said doing cams and bigger turbo she said quote “if you are making a show car then it will be covered”
I think it has something to do with show car, maybe if something happens to your car you have to tell them your car was a show car????

I work for USAA, we don't have any warranty for mechanical breakdowns--BUT we do cover for modded cars without charging anything extra so long as the parts are permanently installed and you have receipts at the time of loss.
GEICO does have a mechanical breakdown endorsement on their policies. BUT--don't take what the "working through college" girl is telling you. Most of the GEICO reps don't even understand the policies well enough to give you hypothetical scenario answers. In fact--she isn't supposed to be giving you answers to what if questions like that because it's not her that makes the decision to cover a loss, it's the claims dept. That goes with any insurance company.
The mechanical breakdown clause is only good when THEY say it is, if they feel there was any negligence in the matter--sorry--no coverage. That's only some of the fine print. Think about things logically here...
