4) If you are modded and you need factory service, remove your mods and go back to stock.
5) If you mod, always hold on to your OEM parts, because you never know.

What about flashes, what can be done with that?

Also am I only safe with a catback and not TBE? Or neither actually?

if you're modded why cry foul when they deny warranty? someone has to take responsibility of their actions. If you're not modded and they deny warranty then that I think is a different story

What baffles me, is how they're saying you're destroying your car - even if you're running stock.

I don't see why you'd produce a "Performance" car, sell it retail, and expect people to not play with it.

How about because not all failures on a modded car are due to the mods?

Sure, if the mods you've got actually break something, then you should take responsibility and pay for the repairs yourself. But if you throw a rod and denies warranty coverage because of your suspension mods, that's not right.

The law says manufacturers have to show that non-OEM parts caused damage before they can deny warranty coverage for those repairs. isn't doing that--they're denying all warranty coverage for cars with any mods. We need to challenge them on that, remind of the law, and be prepared to fight, otherwise they're going to continue their current practices because it's money in their pockets.

See above post.

When my wife was about to purchase her Scion XB, I was asking about the mods you can purchase at the dealer. The price we were quoted for the optional fog lights was outrageous (I thought) and included installation. I asked it it were any cheaper if I installed them myself. The salesperson said that if I installed the factory spec fog lights that the entire warranty was voided. I argued this for a while and basically told her that if Scion actually practiced what she claimed that it was quite illegal.

I asked, "So, you're telling me that if I install the OE fog lights myself and a rod bearing goes out with 200 miles on the car, it is not covered?"

"Nothing will be covered if you modify the car in any way." she replied.

It is obvious that this salesperson was ill informed about the warranty policies, but it is this kind of BS that FORCES us to sometimes remove mods for warranty work. If it is the service manager who doesn't understand, then we go through weeks (or months) of crap trying to get an obviously unrelated problem warrantied.

That said, if I installed an aftermarket boost controller and cranked it up to 30 psi and popped the motor, I would honestly take the blame and not attempt to play innocent. We should all take responsibility for our actions.

damn I bought evo 2 weeks ago and the dealer gave me free LIFETIME oil change and car wash. To bad my army station is in different state. But end of this year, I'll be shipped to overseas and my brother will be driving my car in town where i bought the car.
I just ordered turboback and waiting for the product. Think they will avoid warranty by having turboback? Hope they dont.

The dealer gave me free LIFETIME tire change and clutch change. And I was going to order basic mods(MBC,TBE), but I hope they don't void my warranty....

I'm still undecided on this issue as well... I want to be able to prove all my maintenance was done properly and on-time by having the dealer do it... but I also don't want to affect any warranty decisions by bringing a modded car in for service.

I would just change the oil in my driveway

They won't void your warranty, but what they will do is note all of your mods, then keep track of it for further visits. Then when you need actual warranty work, they will say you have this this and this, and you will be screwed!

At least thats what they did for me. I went in to get my rear window wiper fixed and on my recepit it said "intake filter, lowered suspension, etc..)
Something along those lines....

Also PM me for pricing on this system. Outside of this the drop-in just makes sense as it will pay for itself over time.
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but how does this catback sound? I'm looking for performance gains from bolt-ons, but don't want a very loud and annoying sounding exhaust.

That's the way to go. Let me know if you need more info on the JUNB.L cat-back or would like to order one.
