Warranty

What can you really do to an EVO IX ( performance ) w/o voiding your warranty? It looks like just a Drop in filter, Cat-back, and maybe, just maybe a flash. Mitsu told me you cant do a TBE only a Cat-back which is some BS.

What kind of WHP would you even gain from just a Drop in , and cat-back?

This is pissin me off, I WANT TO MOD!!!!!

I have to have my warranty though!!!

JunBL Catback and their flash will give you huge improvements. If the dealer ever complained about the catback you need to find a new dealer. Check out this page:

Also PM me for pricing on this system. Outside of this the drop-in just makes sense as it will pay for itself over time.

Sorry buddy you bought the wrong car. You have to pay to play. I have all the mods you just listed just because I want to keep my warranty. Why should they warranty your car for any more mods that drastically increase the power? It would not be their problem after that. Sorry to say that it's because of people like you when honest people try to get get warranty work done and get denied.

Just depends on the dealer, if you find a cool dealer then you can do a few more things than TBE and drop in. South Coast Mitsubishi here in CA. you can do a lot of performance mods and they wont void your warranty. As long as they can prove your warrany problem doesnt involve parts you put onto you car you are fine. Call dealers around your area and not just in your town, they might be different.

Deal with it....it's life....Either U go faster or stay stock with slight Mods. Warranty or no warranty, U just can't have it both. But U could always put all ur stock parts back when something goes wrong.

you can do whatever you want as long as you have the stock parts to put back on and the patience to install them if your sh*t brakes.

My dealer recommended discussing the options with the service manager so they he could discuss the pro's, con's, future problems, and so forth with the planned mods and the warranty.

They actually recommended a flash for the bolt ons, and obviously recommned not getting into the engine block (I.E. cams and such).

Generally--whatever parts you put on the car are your responsibility--as well as any of the cars systems those parts have a direct effect on.

Just get a lawyer. Trust me you'll have to. I had an engine blow up on my with no mods within a month of owning the car, and they didnt wanna repair it under warrenty. They claimed the engine was run low on oil. Once I got a lawyer they finally fixed it and setteled with me. They wont touch it though now, so i take care of it myself. Oil changes, brakes, diff flushes, trany, transfercase, everything. Sometimes I got a whine from my tranney, bujt after flushing it, the diffs, and transfer cases it went away. I didnt wanna get into another ordeal with having them fixing it and making it worst. i remeber after the new short block they put on my oil pump pully fell off after driving it home. towed back the next day. Said after that especially working in a shop, I would only touch it myself. Buy this car and expect to me on your own especially if you mod!

The servuce manager is not going to stick his head out for you. If you mod and something really breaks the district will come in and regulate. At some point an authorization for warranty work comes from outside the dealer...you think this is any different?

They made NO effort to find the cause of the problem, just used their "mods" reasoning as a scapegoat.
Sorry I know old thread BUT how the hell did they relate Stew to your or your car?

Am I the only one that noticed the obvious sidestep by in this comment ...

from a post quoting the Web site WAY back in the thread
"Mitsubishi does not have any automated web search system looking for Lancer Evolutions involved in race events. This is absolutely false."

They never denied that a search was performed, the only denied that automated searches are performed. They could have a full time employee actively checking SCCA results and the above statement would not be false ...

This entire situation is odd ...

has mitsu addressed this whole situation or improved the way they deal with denials yet? Since I plan on getting an evo this summer, I really want to know.

to sum up 56 pages.

1. Don't bring in your car to Mitsu for any type of service if you are modded.
2. Don't post any personal information.
3. Always blot out your license plate if you decide to post pics of your ride.
