i personally love the s2k. they r a very fun car to drive, but lack a lot in the power department. i would never trade my evo for a s2k but if i had some extra $$$ (which i don't cuz i'm 17) i would most likely buy one.

performance: evo>s2k

car to mess around with: s2k>evo

I was debating on the S2K when I was about to buy the evo... I drove my friend's and decided it was way too small for me. I live in VA too and although the S2000 is a sexy car it is becoming way too common here. It seems like you see them around every corner....just like subies.

It is awesome that they are putting down crazy power on stock internals with just a head gasket to drop compression... I think inline pro's is breaking 500 on stock internals....that's pretty amazing considering it revs up to 9 grand-thats got to be a fun ride. Being in VA...inline pro aint nothing but a hop skip and a jump.

Personally, I've owned two s2k's and they are awesome cars. By comparison, Evo and s2k don't compare. The s2k really does feel like a true sports car, and sitting in the drivers seat fitss like a tight glove.

With that being said, I will not give up my Evo to get another s2k again. Later when I can afford another payment, I will buy one for summer days. Just in my current situation, the Evo has more pros to cons over the s2k. I need a 4 door family car that can drive in the snow, the s2k can't offer me that.

Bottom line is...apples to apples. Evo to STI to S4 to etc is the real comparison.

The S2K is a great car but if you plan on making the car faster be prepared to drop some cash.Still a fun car though.

when we get them from the factory for us to pdi them, i love driving them, i think they where build to do exactly what it does. the car handles great, we have a customer that comes in all the time and has a supercharger on it and i have drivin that i would would say it is pretty damn comparable to the evo, exept the awd part. for the money you would pay for the s2k and it only being a two seater, and a small two seater at that, i don't know if i would go that route, but to the OP, hope you like it and have fun modding it..

just my .02

I actually just sold my 2002 S2000 and am going to get an Evo IX this weekend. In perfect conditions, there is no way the Evo will ever be as fun as the S2k. The S2k just is not a whole lot of fun when its cold and/or rainy out. I'm happy to be getting a car to enjoy all year round rather than just the summer.

I'm not sure where you guys are coming off saying the S2k is a slow car. My S2k pulled away from stock 8's with ease and held dead-even with stock 9's. Then, I regeared it and the 9's were no problem. A modded Evo will of course destroy a S2k, but by no means are they a slow car. If you're getting beat by minivans you need to learn how to properly drive the car.

To correct a previous post, AP1's rev to 9300 RPM, not 8900 RPM. Revlimiter is at 9300 RPM, the ideal shift-point is generally 9200 RPM.

My girlfriend and I did 1810 miles in 5 days this previous summer and it was very comfortable the entire time. Noisy yes, but you learn to deal with it. She is 6'0" and I am 6'3".

If the convertible top is creaking or squeaking you just need to lube the joints and hinges with some white lithium grease. I had to do this once in the 3 years I owned the car. Never once did anything on the car break, it ran flawlessly from day 1 when I purchased it with 8k miles on it.

FYI, my car made 199 whp on a Dynojet and 191 on a AWD Dyno-Dynamics.

Look, most of you guys are saying the s2000 is a worse car because of its lack of power.

How fast do you want your daily driver to be? For a daily driver isn't a s2000 with a sc running 12s enough?

A problem with the evo community is that they all crave power. Sad but true.
Some people just don't find the necessity to pull on z06s all the time.. which is why they can "settle" with a s2000 and enjoy the car for what it is.

wow all this bashing because the guy wants a different kind of car??? I have been driving a bolt on rsx-s for the last two years, and can't make up my mind if I want an evo or an s2k. evolutionm.net is turning into the next srt forum. I never post, just read and take in info, but WOW. The 2 cars are totally different, I can't believe people are arguing about the two like this.

So many differences, both cars have alot of pros and cons, it's prefence. 4 door awd turbo with cheap looking interior but fast, or 2 seater 4cyl that looks good and is a quick and all around nice. Like I was saying, I myself is torn between the 2 right now, I want boost and awd but no 4 door. I want a classy sporty 2 seater with Hondas reliability. But i dont think the s2k is roomy enough. So i understand where the op is coming from. There totally two different driving experiences. Just be logical and look at both cars and realize, maybe you care about speed more then the next guy. To each his own!! and just so all of you next more then likely I will go evo!!!!!

PS... S2K owns evo in handling!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently you raced a nicely mod'd turbo S2K with an owner who couldn't drive for crap. If you lived in SoCal I'd be happy to show you what a GT35R S2K could do against your GT35R Evo.

BTW...I own both a turbo S2K and Evo and have no biases here...

Lord... Give the guy a break!

Yes, there are pros and cons to both vechicles.

I had an S2K and now have an Evo. They are two very different vehicles. Either way, if you know what you want out of the cars, they will be good choices.

If your going for all out Speed, the Evo is easier to Mod of course and is the winner.

If you want reliability, the S2k is the winner.

If you want Room for a family, the Evo is the winner.

If you want a nice drop top, the S2k is the winner.

If you want a dyno queen, the Evo is the winner.

If you want a clean sports car look, the S2k is the winner. (S2k + Work Meister S1 = OMG!)

If you want that "get the hell out of my way darn gonnit" look, the Evo is the winner.

If you want that butter smooth gear box, the S2k is the winner.

I could go on and on. Going to the S2k was not a bad choice at all. Just depends what the OP wants. My evo has damn near 600 whp and there are days I wish I had my Yellow 01 S2k with 8.0", 9.5" black work meisters s1's...

Like I said, both are great cars. Great choice either way. Good Luck with it.
