Another Evo to S2k thread.....
Lord... Give the guy a break!
Yes, there are pros and cons to both vechicles.
I had an S2K and now have an Evo. They are two very different vehicles. Either way, if you know what you want out of the cars, they will be good choices.
If your going for all out Speed, the Evo is easier to Mod of course and is the winner.
If you want reliability, the S2k is the winner.
If you want Room for a family, the Evo is the winner.
If you want a nice drop top, the S2k is the winner.
If you want a dyno queen, the Evo is the winner.
If you want a clean sports car look, the S2k is the winner. (S2k + Work Meister S1 = OMG!)
If you want that "get the hell out of my way darn gonnit" look, the Evo is the winner.
If you want that butter smooth gear box, the S2k is the winner.
I could go on and on. Going to the S2k was not a bad choice at all. Just depends what the OP wants. My evo has damn near 600 whp and there are days I wish I had my Yellow 01 S2k with 8.0", 9.5" black work meisters s1's...
Like I said, both are great cars. Great choice either way. Good Luck with it.

BAH! My brother owns an 05 S2K, and after spending two weeks with it I couldn't wait to get my Evo back.
It's a ***** car, and it'll get you a bunch of looks if you care about that ****.
I care more about how a car drives, and the Evo is a much better driver's car.

Well EvoM I haven't been an entirely HUGE active member on this board, but I have a post or two. I had been battling back and forth about selling my Evo after owning it for roughly 3 years. So my friend let me drive his Ap1 S2k around for a week and I was instantly hooked on it. I have never in my life felt a better gear box. I love the way it shifts and I also love where everything is positioned on the car. I love where the stereo controls are and having cruise control is something I had forgotten. Secondly, I used to get a good bit of attention in the Evo, but the attention I got in the S2k outdid the Evo by far. Not that that really matters, but it damn sure feels good. The s2k really feels like an extension of my body, I guess because it's so small lol. Although not flashy, the interior is very nice and I'm extremely happy with it and happen to like it more than the Evo as well. The handling of the s2k is unbelievable and even though it is not as fast as my Evo, it still felt nice and quick.
Anyways, after driving it around for a while I just had to have one. I put the Evo up for sale and it was sold in less than two weeks. I purchased a 2003 black on black AP1 already equipped with a spoon exhaust and testpipe. So I'll list my opinion on the Pros and Cons of switching to the s2k
Pros:
1. Looks better inside and out IMO
2. Transmission is ungodly
3. Interior controls are more abundant than the Evo. (You can do much more)
4. Drop top of course
5. The S2k community is more friendly here in VA.
6. CHEAPER INSURANCE BY FAR!! And I'm 25 years old.
7. 9k Rev limiter and pulls wonderful from vtec engagement to 9.2k
8. Handling is far superior in my opinion.
Cons:
1. Even though it has little nooks here and there, storage is limited.
2. Very small car. If you're a big guy, this car is not for you. (I'm 5'11 186 lbs)
3. No more AWD and you don't get that "throw back" feeling
4. Definitely a bit slower.
5. All the convertible tops of s2k's are a bit squeaky after time
6. 2 seats, so no more riding the friends around. (Hell I didn't do that anyway
)
So even though, in my opinion, there are just as many cons as pros, the cons aren't really cons to me. But they may weigh heavily on your decision to make the move because we're all different and have different tastes. As I've said before, this is all just my opinion. For the 3 years I had the Evo it was a blast and a great car. I'd do it again of someone asked me. However, I couldn't be happier with my black on black s2k

I would say they handle about the same but differently, if that makes sense. The total balance feeling of the S2K is unbeatable though.
The biggest con I found in the S2k was ... I could only fit one girl at a time
IMHO, you need a EVO and a S2k at the same time. They complement each other in such a great way. I know I loved having both......

Your joking right? It takes a skilled driver to drive the S2K competitively whereas pretty much any novice can drive the Evo and make decent times. The S2K is much less forgiving, but at the same time more capable when driven properly.
Convertable tops are usually insulated and not that cold in the winter. This is coming from someone who drives a convertable all winter long.
are you on crack? obviously you dont even know how that term "dyno queen" is used. its for cars who make huge power but cant put it down. good example is supras (yes i owned turbo 4th gen)
evo's are dyno queen? HAHAHAHA they put down power better then ANY car in its class. dyno queens dont put down almost 13 flat in quarter mile with LESS then 300hp while other 300hp sedans cant do anywhere NEAR that.
and YES im a huge fan of s2k's, but i do consider it a downgrade still (slightly) from an evo. evo vs s2k comparison is truely an apple vs orange comparo.

Actually honda said it best with a sticker they made for their motorbike line -stupid hurts-I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but sometimes some people will get a little carried away and pass a really bad stereotype based on something trivial like a car ETC.This post should be for the Pros and Cons for each car based on your experience.Even if you don't like the car you should still respect someones elses choice. Its not like you can call someone an idiot for walking as opposed to driving. So why would you talk trash about to someone if they have different taste in a car?
After driving a 2006 S2K for the whole summer, I am glad I got the Evo. The shifting experience is not as great, but it hauls a$$ a lot better
For some reason, I think the handling is better on the S2K. I thought the Evo would be better considering all the stories and reviews I have read. It could be psychological.
Both are great cars, but I am happy with the Evo.
