that is the case in road course too. The evo vs s2000 same driver the evo should out run the S2000. this is just away it is. Matter a fact i never lost against stock or mildy modifyed S2000. Only hard staff i find on track really is a porsche or z06 with good driver.
Don't get me wrong the S2000 is awsome car,but way to under powered as a factory car. Even thought i think it will out run the 350Z.

You are probably right--my post should have stated auto-x as that is what the FACTS I specifically posted reflected.

Regarding the information you posted:

1. Do you have any factual information other than re-typing what you read on various websites?
2. Were both cars in the same class? Was the S2000 N/A or FI?

I am glad to see that you are taking the time to post some "specific" information rather than talking out of your a$$ like most of the fanbois in this thread.

S2K are nice. I don't know about it being better than the evo in handling, but it has potential. I would get an S2K if it weren't for the evo.

1-This is factual data, as far as I know.

EDIT-The EVO time was set by Best Motoring, driver Takayuki Kino****a
The S2K time was set by Sport Auto, which I believe is a European Magazine.

2-There is no classes. Its just best lap for stock production cars. Therefore, they were both stock, so the S2K was N/A, of course.

FYI, I had a S2K (AP1). It was great.

double edit-the forum edited the Japanese driver name, cuz it though it was a bad word

And those videos provided what? Nothing. Nil. Were all the vehicles in the same class? No. I can turn on the Speed Channel and watch some Indy cars lap a very capable C6 Z06 and what does that tell me? Nothing. Zero. Zilch. The cars may be running on the track on or about the same time, but that doesn't mean they are competing against each other.

Some facts:

- EVO is faster than S2000 in stock form in pretty much any race, except maybe tiny twisty and/or curvy auto-x courses. Pretty much every Japanese track have more EVO's positioned above S2000 than vice versa.

- It is cheaper and easier to make EVO go faster by modding than S2000.

- It is much easier to drive EVO towards the limit than S2000

- S2000 handles extremely well and would corner better than EVO in low to mid speed corners but at the same time, S2000 handling is way overrated (along with NSX) EVO will hang with S2000 in most corners and no way will it get 'dusted'.

- S2000 is generally preferred for fun factor over EVO for people who have driven both.

- No offense to turbo S2k owners, but I just think it is a really lame idea. It defeats the whole purpose of S2000, isn't that fast in straight line (sure low 10's is amazingly fast and would surprise a lot of exotic owners, but it means it is set up for drag races and cannot compare to other cars built for drag, ie Evo/DSM, mustang and ton of musclecars etc etc)

- There are cars that are built for speed, and there are cars that are built for fun factor(this is from Initial D but I guess it fits well here )

- Just because S2000 are slower than EVOs does not make them a crap car. Would you agree with an FXX / FXX v2.0 owner if he says every car on the street are for sissies and people with no taste because their cars cannot touch the performance of his/hers? Would you be happy if he/she called you a 'typical zit faced teenage kid who's so proud of their slow **** car'?

I think any car that can perform the task of what they were built to do are good cars, so for me, only '****' car would be like the ones that have design flaws and would have the gas tank explode or something.

I bought my '05 Evo after I flipped my '00 S2k on the highway missing a deer.

Good luck with the switch and can't say I disagree with you on much of anything with what you listed.

No comparison to me with regards on which is more fun to drive, Evo simply doesn't do it for me and I will probably sell mine soon enough. I bought it in anticipation of a move to the mountains that never happened. As things stand now it's just a daily driver, eats too much gas, and not really worth the payment a month.

I had a 04 S2k and I loved driving it. I traded it in and bought the EVO which I do not regret, but I wouldn't mind owning either car. The Evo has been great, but it cannot give me comfort features like my G35 can. I would drive the Evo everyday though if it were stock, 600hp DD with a track suspension hurts my back though.

I originally join this site back in August 2006 and at the time, I was looking at different cars to get and an Evo was on the top of my list. I was instantly hooked on this site trying to read whatever I can on the Evo, until I met my friend Ryan who drove an AP1 2002 S2000 with some nice mods. So from there I was also hooked onto the S2000 and it was between the Evo IX MR or a S2000. I read about both excessively and I drove both excessive and by the time I choose the car, I came home with a 2007 S2000. I have no regrets besides it needs a little more power.

I moved from an 01 S2k to my Evo and do not regret it at all. I did love the handling of the S2K. It feels like its on rails, but the lack of torque, BAD DRONE and wind noise, and fact that i had to put it away every year drove me insane. VTEC does not make up for FI at all. I hated taking off from a light, and hammering it, and waiting....waiting....waiting for the high lift to kick it. Overall it was a fun car, but the lack of torque will drive you insane after a little bit. I also had my rear end blow out on me at 27k.

I have a friend with an AP1 (with factory hardtop) and another friend with a stock Evo9. At the last autoX this past sunday, I co-drove the s2k and the only car on the day to beat me was my own time in the evo9, and it was an extremely tight course (1st gear the entire way).

All in all, if it was my sunday driver ONLY, id surely take a drop top S2K, but as a daily driver/track warrior/everything else, Im still taking the EVo any day.
