Another Evo to S2k thread.....
To say what I said in the other thread in "Other Cars"
I would keep the EVO..
However, if you do buy a S2000 I would try to make sure its a 2.2L motor and stay away from F20c (mainly the early motors).
(*PERSONAL OPINION HERE*) I think it comes down to a problem of high RPM and lack of oil on the early cars. I am sure Honda knows of the problem and if you look at the changes to the motor it makes sense. They beefed up the oiling on the later F20c cars and then they switched to a lower RPM motor. Personally, I think the later F20c fix was a temporary thing as they where not sure if it would cure the problem and only did it so they could retool to produce the 2.2l motor. Also, anyone who says that they went to the 2.2l for more TQ well to me it doesn't make sense. They have been building cars like the Civic SI for awhile while hearing complaints about its low end performance and that is in a faimly style car. Now for no apparent reason they change the sports car motor for no HP gain? I don't buy it.

Personally, I like the S2000 and I think any car that had the failure would have already failed. However, I think that I would feel better with my own driving style knowing that I did all I could to not be one of the few that had to deal with a blown motor.

To those Evo fanbois running their mouth about the Evo being superior to the S2000 in auto-x/road racing, here is some FACTUAL information for you:
http://scca.org/documents/resultfile...ts%2011.14.pdf
Page 5:
3 S2000s in the Top 5 for A Stock class
S2000 wins first place with a overall score of 89.180. Quickest lap time was 46.538.
Page 31-32:
2 Evos in the Top 5 for Street Touring Ultra
Evo gets third place with an overall score of 92.671. Quickest lap time was 48.530.
Boy, the Evo sure is superior to the S2000 in autocrossing/road racing. The Evo, without a doubt, has the upper hand (in stock form) in drag racing, but in no way, shape or form is it superior to the S2000 in autocrossing/road racing.

2. Turbo vs N/A will play a very large roll in autox times
3. The only reason S2000 is at the top of the list for its class is because it has a big advantage over the car I think would win that class hands down if it wasn't fighting an uneven battle. (Porsche Boxster)
4. Why, do S2000 owners always bring it back to what car is faster on the race track? I don't know but when I have asked on S2ki.com about lap times very few people respond and the few track guys who do respond are putting up decent but not amazingly fast times. Nothing that would lead me to belive that the S2000 has some handling characteristic that makes it superior to any other car with similar power.
5. I don't care what car is faster because it comes down to what car is more fun to drive.

Man its such a nice change hving an s2k... especially coming from a honda, and is300 to my evos. S2 is a lot of fun.... hondas to me always felt like the harder you beat on them, the faster they go. somthing i've never really felt with the evo for fear of breaking it. i dont think i would choose the s2k over my evo.... but i tihnk thats where i would go if i ever got out of the AWD turbo game. seems like the next most fun car.
1. Autocrossing is dumb for starters but it really doesn't have anything to do with a real race track.

What are you guys stupid? A highly modded S2K will not even compete with a highly moded EVO except in drifting which obviously the EVO doesn't even compete in. Thats about the only thing that the S2K can be better at. Even as a DD is rear wheel drive, don't know about you guys but I'm in Chicago and in the winter that wouldn't fly. Its has less usable space in terms of a back seat, smaller trunk etc. Don't get me wrong its an awesome car but coming from an EVO it would be a down grade.
I guess I'm joining the band wagon for the down grade. I had two evos and will get my S2000CR soon. I think it will be better for the AutoX being lightweight. I may go get an evo XI after the DSG has matured
It's really the weight that pushed me away from the evo. I was upset to hear the evo 8 being 3280lbs and now even more heavy? With more weight I might as well purchase the GTR. But then again why would I, if my turbo is lighter
. The turbo is fast but to tell you the truth it feels like a pig in corners compared to my old evo.

You're really not helping yourself with the sarcasm. The S2000 is a great car but you cannot contend its performance in any contest of speed compared to the Evolution.
I sold hondas and acuras for about a year...the s2k is tooooooo small. it felt like I was strapped to a roller coaster seat. Im only 6'1" 215. I would die in any bumper to bumper collision...hahaha...great car tho...only for compact people...sorry...no way in hell would i go for the s2k over the evo...id even consider the lotus before the s2k...psyche! still too small....ill be waiting for the new supra or the skyline...maybe...hard to leave the evo....i call it the poor mans porsche...but even the porsche cayman drives alil rougher
